Bug reports & end-user support for Akai's MPC Software 'controllers' including the new MPC Studio 2, the MPC Touch, MPC Renaissance & original MPC Studio and MPC StudioB lack.

So I went to a friends house for a session and when I come home I plug my Renn back up and the screen is just blinking on and off. Not even seeing the MPC logo just cycles the light on and off. I did plug MY Renn into his Surge Protector. My computer was also plugged in and I had no issues with that. Has this happened to anyone else. I'm gong to hit up akai as well but wanted to also check here.

thanks

I have not had this problem...my ren is plugged in and out of my surge protectors and i have never had a issue like yours. Sound like a faulty adapter or a blown capacitor on the power board...there is no fuse on the board and if there was the unit would not turn on at all... your best bet is to call AKAI and send in your unit for repair... I had to send mine in cause the pads were stretched out and not feeling tight... the turn around time on my repair was about a week and a half...They make you pay for shipping to them in Reno,NV it cost me $35 via UPS and that was from Chicago...but yeah i would just call them get a RA number and send it in...Good luck to you bro hope everything turns out good for you.

Hey Evil

Thanks for the heads up! I gotta send it in from NYC so I'm looking at about 50.00 Wouldn't be so bad if I could still access the software the same way as when the Ren is hooked up. Also holiday time I'm looking at a good 2 to 3 weeks haha sucks! I'll call them tomorrow and get it started.

thanks

Have you tried a different USB cable, different USB ports, directly to a computer USB port rather than through a hub, and not having any other USB devices attached to the computer or Rennaisance?

Hi

Thanks for the reply. Its not the USB its the Power Adapter. When I plug it in it just blinks I would add a video clip if I knew how to add one. Any suggestions are welcomed.

As dazastah suggested, are you sure that you are using the correct power supply?

Maybe try a different power supply, if you have one that meets the exact specs required by the Renaissance, and if that doesn't work, it sounds like the onboard power circuitry, as dazastah also mentioned, in which case it will probably have to go in for repair.

Just wanna give an update. Got email back from Akai. There sending me a new power adapter. Hopefully that fixes the problem. I will say the support guy (Mike) was on point. He emailed me I emailed him back and he hit me right back. So I appreciate that. Let you know if that fixes the issue.
