whos got the biggest collection...>?

Man, I literally have a two car garage full of crates and boxes. My father was a DJ since he was a kid and after he past earlier this year I inherited all of his collection of funk, jazz, R&B, hip-hop, and more. Albums, 12s, tapes, 45s. 78s, CDs, reel to reels, everything but 8 tracks.

Once I get my ish organized I'll be rollin hard. But that's the hard part. Imagine getting this many records ALL AT ONCE. Overwhelming to say the least.

But I can't even begin to know how to get started diggin, organizing, and chopping the collection up. I was still about 200 record behind in my own collection.

66 yo kid sorry to hear about your DAd, but thats the same thing i want to leave for my son , all my studio and software(records and tapes , cd's)and sh!t that comes all with it. your musta had some good stuff,

i say start putting them in music section like in the record stores jazz, funk,soul, ect..ect..ect.

Yeah, it looks as though my Pops was in the process of organizing his stuff but was just starting. So I have a major task on my hands.

The bad thing was, living out of state made it hard to get everything from his place to mine. I actually had to give away some nice vintage equipment. Choosing what to keep was HARD.

Make sure you instill in your kid the importance of what you and he have. My Pops would take me to record conventions and shows to make sure I fully realize that this wasn't just a bunch or old music.

Too many folks these days look at music as nothing but disposable.
