I aint say none of that son...you playing mr.fantastic...you reaching now. But atleast you can now admit it's a black artform. I know it was a strain though I don't know why it's so hard to admit.

By delnegro Thu Dec 09, 2004 6:40 pm
It's a reach cause I never said sh1t about Em whining or whites not being able to feel hiphop. And I didnt assume anything but at this stage in the game for a hiphop fan to not be able to admit hiphop or more specifically in this case rap is a black artform then you're in Egypt...in Da Nile(denial). You said I shot myself in the foot saying it's a black artform. I'm not assuming your white but I AM assuming you're not black. I guess once I pointed out that Em said he does black music you saw more clearly. But I shot myself in the foot when I said it..LOL. Ya'll some funny muhfukas...seriously!

yo delnegro- its mr. whitey. i think i might be able relay your message with a different angle. when i lived in spain, all the hot clubs would advertise that they had "black music." this checked a lot of american kids in the throat that had just hopped on the hip hop boat- they were confused.

are u guys telling me that classic rock is not WHITE MUSIC? I guess jimi hendrix is like the eminem of rock huh if i were to get involved in this race melee. not saying this discussion isnt valid cause its def inevitable to come out of something as revolutionary as HIPHOP was, is and will be.

this shiet is not as complicated as all u are making it out to be, every person has their own HONEST interpretation of what things mean to them, so RESPECT all views AS THEY ARE SERVED TO YOU if you want to be TOLERANT. personally hiphop for me, i treat like VEGETABLES. no, seriously. but that doesn't mean that i hate on the people that treat their hiphop like FRUITS, i just dont run with that crowd when im trying to chill. i hope this all doesnt sound too high and mighty, at the core my ESSENCE is-

SQUASHED BEETS

Yes hiphop can be made from many things but WHO took the initiative of taking these many things and making it something else?!! I can make some fried rice and egg rolls but that doesnt change the fact that Im a black man making CHINESE food. By saying it's black artform is not discriminating nobody said it's a black artform so whities stay away, you're not allowed in this. As soon as you guys hear Black you think we're on some "mine, mine, mine" sh1t and it aint like that all. But it is what it is and even Eminem said he does BLACK music...so selfishly I might add. And back to Eminem, songs like "just lose it" reminds me of sh1t like Skeelo "I wish I was", cheesy hippop songs like that weren't even on our radar in hip hop once upon a time. Hiphop's trendy now but I cant wait for the new trend so the ex-grungers, ex-boyband pop fans can find something else to d1ckride. aND THE WHOLE PEOPLE FROM THE ESSENCE DONT BUY MOST OF THEM RECORDS WAS REFUTED EASILY AND SIMPLY...BY NUMBERS.

man now i gotta ask. who the **** cares what was started by what?! i mean, your sounding really close minded. man im as black as they come! but why should i give a **** what color person raps or makes music. shi*, the neptunes make hot tracks! what about them?! the folks that produced the Encore track by Jay Z!! They made a hiphop track for him, but they're not black! man it DOES NOT matter!! everyone on this board isnt black. we got all kinds of people makin music here!!! now your starting to sound kinda hateful. i dont want to use the word racist so i wont. man you gotta open your eyes dogg. yea it may have been started by black people! but so what! thats just like saying black people playing soccer is wrong!! or black people in congress is wrong. wasnt started by us, but they're doing it! those were just examples. but man **** all that black white asian whateva crap!!!! make fu*kin music!! the man has talent, he knows how to write, he's white!! get over it!! why should ANYONE with talent in writing hiphop, r&b or rap music NOT do it because they're NOT black. You didnt say exactly that, but sounds close enough and thats the dumbest thing I've heard yet!!

Ahhhh..Finally.. The Truth!! And it took 6 pages to arrive here. I been listening to EM since "Just dont give a Fvck", the original 12".. When he used to rock all the college radio stations with his sick(I mean litterally sick) verses. He always stood out, cause he was always the best one to spit. Not saying he's the best rapper ever, but dude is nice. You cant front..A good artist uses his talent and continues to get better. A good artist is honest with his music but moreso himself, which is why I like this new album..It may not be his best but I like that fact that he checked himself. He was honest..Especially with the song "my first single." He's letting cats know that he knows his official first single "just lose it" was wack. I think was told to do a single like that, and he did it to death. Sh!t is wack. But it might draw people who dont normally listen to rap music into listening to his album. When they buy the album, you'll here songs like mosh. In another song he speaks about MC Shan and X-Clan. I know half these kids today who claim they hiphop heads dont even know who these people are. How many well respected rappers of today talk about rappers from back in the day? I think he's helping, not hurting hiphop. Vanilla Ice did more hurt than any good to the game. Either way Em is nice and I think a lot of other rappers feel the same way even though they may not be feeling him or the fact that he's white. Tell me why the only cats that really came after Em were all corny.. C'mon Benzino? What does he have to lose? Cats with strong credibilty aint comin after him, cause Em's gonna do his thing. Jay, Nas have all worked with Em whelther he was rapping or producing because they respect him on some level..Hell the same verse you said you like was on Jay-Z's Blueprint. And most cats from "the Essence" all said it was a damn near a mistake for Jay to put Em on that track because Jay got roasted. You see Eminem only produce a track on the Black Album and was no where to be found on Blueprint 2 right  Im from BK, so I'm from the same streets you from.. If these rappers you respect as Emcees respect Em, why cant you? While Dre did have a huge influence on Em's acceptance in the rap game, there is no way any of us can calculate the influence Dre had on the percentage of sales..Its pure speculation.

"First of all minorities only make up a SMALL percentage of the U.S. for the most part we're only in urban centers so when we did make up the majority of sales heads we're going gold-platinum tops and were happy even if hiphop didnt gain mainstream i.e white acceptance it would still be thriving, we would still be living it."

How do you know we made up the majority in sales? Especially with all the bootlegging going on in the hood. Cats back in the day were happy to gold.. Where are your facts or your numbers..
Hiphop, whelther you like if or not, gained more more buy it going mainstream. Of course you have cats out there now spittin just for cash, but you have more forms of hiphop music now..Hiphop grew because of RunDMC, LL Cool J, Public Enemy, NWA even Biggie. He was ryming about Versace and all that other ish that uderground heads used to call selling out. Best believe they lit their incense and listen to ready to die though. You think white people who bought the beastie boys didnt buy RunDMC and LL Cool J? And cats were still bootlegging their ish in our neighborhood. And I lived on St Johns and Nostrand..Going mainstreamed helped while it left hiphop open for misuse and exploitation, still gain exposure which keeps it alive. I performed in Manchester and Liverpool and I swear to G*d you would think the white people there love the hiphop culture more than we do in the states..White girls Djing and breaking it was crazy..These are all things you'll be hard pressed to find in a party or club in Brooklyn. And you still think HipHop and its music would still be thriving today if it was isolated? Think again!!

BTW last I checked The Rock Steady Crew was mostly Latino cats.. This started in 1979..The first cat to ever tag his name frequently was from the Bronx. His tag was TAKI183 and he was from Greece..A graffiti group called the Wanted was created by a white kid named Tracy168 in 1972. He used to hang with Bambatta who was the leader of his gang called the Black Spades, before rap music!!! Then big murals became well know through a latino cat name Quinones in 1977, (I cant remember his first name.) People from other cultres had just as much to due with the birth of hiphop as black people..Poor Black and Latino people lived in the Bronx at that time..

If you dont know, dont make generalities. Find out first then speak.

All you muhfukas are seeing is BLACK, Do you actually read?! I said OTHERS can CONTRIBUTE and others have that I respect, Rick Rubin and Paul C immediately come to mind, nobody said anyone should be excluded. But yes its does matter to me thats it's a black artform I CARE because I've been down since the fetal stages and watched this baby grow and I'm PROUD of it. That something made in the hood by black cats started a whole new genre of music and subculture. I'm not going to let revisionist history change what I know cause some white kids dont feel comfortable saying they do black music or indulge in a black artform. Where's the racism?!

By en2 Thu Dec 09, 2004 7:11 pm
revisionist history- cmon man history is revisionary by nature.

i guess ur indulging in a WHITE computer right now, right? I mean if youre using a pc or mac that means it was made by gates or allen, so uh, are u comfortable saying that you are indulging in WHITE technology right now? cmon man, these two questions that i just asked are the stupidest **** questions ever.

By delnegro Thu Dec 09, 2004 7:18 pm
His name is Lee. And just because you know about Rock Steady and yes they were mostly Latino BUT they weren't the only breaking crews in the 5 boroughs!!! There mounds of other crews that dont get mentioned, weren't as up high in beat street and all that. Bootlegging aint come around til like the early nineties hiphop was thriving still. And believe me the people who were down with hiphop b4 it went mainstream would still be down now. I know who was making the majority of sales at this time cause I know the majority of people who listened to the music. Just like it doesnt take a genius to figure out blacks are about 15% of the total population of the U.S. so of course when we were the majority of buyers it would less then now. I said once and I'll say it again..Most of the trends, slang, innovations, fashion, in hiphop were started by blacks. Listen to Mos Def new album when he talks about rock musicians and you'll understand why I'm so adamant about making my point and wont be privy to revisionist history.

I do know how to read and I understood perfectly clear what you said. The MAJORITY of the elements of hiphop were NOT just created by black people. I too have been around to watch this thing grow.. I'm not calling you a racist at all, I dont know you like that, but you gotta be more concise. If you talking about Rap music, then your point maybe valid (Last Poets..Reggae music). Im speaking of the culture of hiphop not hiphop music.

To compare a computer to Art is stupid. Now if Im playing some classical music, then yes I'm indulging in white or european artform. The same way that if I'm dancing or playing salsa I'm indulging in Latino culture.

By en2 Thu Dec 09, 2004 7:30 pm
LOL.

i use metaphors to make stupid people more apt to being able grasp onto a concept. that is why you can compare anything to anything else.

this is why the democrats lost and will continue to lose- no **** unity. every one is the realest of the real of the realest of the real.............
