Crazy how people says this and it caught on like wildfire spreading untruth
in a forest full of dry chapped lips. Tweak the defaults or come up with your own sounds just like you would any other keyboard.

Like I mentioned to you recently Lamp. My homie who helped make the ROMs on the Extreme was desperately looking for one for his shows with Berlin and other people he plays keys for.

Plus there's the integration of sampling within sound creation and manipulation.

Reminds me of how many people didn't make use of the ASR10 and it's Audio Tracks.

of course i figured this would be the case, but am i wrong? all the chap lips keep [playing the same presets. and these chapped lipped cats where making fat cash, with not so fat sounds. I'm not hating on the triton at all. i would still like to have one although I do not favor them. what they do is great.

for instance.. your track "output Level" all triton sounds?

Fantom failed by ignoring the beauty of a touchscreen.
Navigating the Fantom with the F keys and Cursor was never really a good flow.

Then they decided to give the G a mouse to navigate but it lost a lot of what was good on the X.

Yes, all triton extreme sounds. Someone told me default sounds on a keyboard don't sound good. I intentionally used non-tweaked, one shot, default sounds and made that beat. That person immediately loved that beat when they heard it.

I feel default sounds were overused and no creativity was put into ALOT of songs back in the day, but that don't mean the sounds are exhausted. It just means dudes need to use their own brains and tweak more.

I agree lamp. Nice tracks in there by the way. You banged out any newer ones lately? Those are circa 05.

The Fantom G lost the plot on legacy multisample formats too. It's inexplicable how Roland expected us to just load multi wavs and make the entire patch from scratch.

But still PM me if anyone wants to buy a minty one with 512MB sample RAM and all packaging. It's still got great WAV ROM and is very well built board. And while touch screen would have been great it's a nice take on the MV way of things with a mouse.

A mouse? Like a USB dongled? Then where did they expect you to have mouse and pad? Laid accross the higher octaves?

 Yeah it's got to be on a big table. I tried on a table that I put a keyboard/mouse tray under, and a wired mouse actually was perfect coming around the back of the table for the wire.

On a quick lok stand it is a big WTF am I supposed to do here? But a mouse is pretty nice to not need the arrow and function keys and to get around MIDI data on the screen really quickly.

On a side note Coz realized you can use class compliant wireless USB keyboards on the 4k which is dope.

To make the default thin drums knock harder I combined 4-5 kicks and 4-5 snares, mixed volumes to taste and ran with it.

Combi mode for patches on tritons are no joke and I'll never say good bye good luck to them, lol. Have hundreds of my own combi's made default patches mixed with sampled cycles and short repeating pad loops and all sorts of other shitty shit.

Back in the day I wanted a Fantom but I didn't do it.

On topic, I can't think of any gear recently I've said good bye and good luck too. I like everything I have, don't use some of it anymore but sentimental value remains and I won't part with my gear.

I really wanted the ren to join the team. But I don't see myself locking down a 1500 laptop to 2012 and leaving it. Specially after I just got rid of three computers this year. Now I have only my macbook. I guess what I mean from first post is that I have realized. I don't want a computer based system. I also have a sentimate value with my gear. I just don't see the future of the akai software bundle lasting like our standalones. Sadly the ren won't be around like tritons and legendary mpc's.

Yeah the only reason I'm mostly computer based even with a grip of hardware is my RME and how long I can stay at a 32 buffer even with a ton of VST's and FX running. 128 is like my 512 as far as that. And 512 buffer/8 cores/24GB I can really throw the kitchen sink in. But that cost me almost 6k to achieve. The investment in actual software is too staggering to even say the number.

Between that and a Nocturn and BCF 2000 that's how I make the computer based way feel "right". Otherwise I would be ASR+an MPC with very limited MIDI out to a VST or two.

ya my favorite thing about the ren was being able to go from simple drum programs to complex vest's. its very nice having all this power and options. i forgot all about those BCF 2000's. it would make logic so nice to work with. i find myself not really using my faderport as much as mouse. but i really don't do much in the daw relm. simple mix for bounce, and maybe a couple vst's to give accent sounds or bass. not much generally. thats why i feel going to the 4000 won't be a big deal to me. i just really like chopping and building on the pads.

id like to see your work station.

Yeah, and every sample, track and sequence has been named ever since!

Life's too short to be spinning through the alphabet with a Jog or tapping around on pads/buttons to name stuff.
