I went str8 from (OHHHH nooooow I remember saying "good bye and good luck" to a peice of gear, I gave it to a good friend who was starting off with no money) Digi001 to UFX and the difference was unbelievable to say the least. Drivers are solid as all hell. Can't wait for the rme totalmix fx ipad app to turn up.

both you and Metatron have that UFX. that thing is sick!!!! i was on the presonus 16.4.2. just before the Ren, so i was tracking my xl out to it. but that RME with the light pipes is what i need now that i don't have a sound card any longer. and with that price they hold it dear to their hearts over there at RME.

pk1, I actually went the PCIe route to save some and I don't mind it only working on my dual boot Mac Pro. It was almost $1000 less that then the UFX. But to my mind the UFX is pound for pound the best in the world given it's performance, features and versatility.

Even the "gravy' features are bananas like standalone operation and recording to USB sticks. Not to mention the Total Mix software being well beyond the already solid mix interface my Multiface II/HDSPe uses.

But yeah I have yet to meet a dissatisfied REM user.

Depends on which G you have, there's plenty of flat area for the Mouse.

Now I have only my macbook. I guess what I mean from first post is that I have realized. I don't want a computer based system. I also have a sentimate value with my gear. I just don't see the future of the akai software bundle lasting like our standalones. Sadly the ren won't be around like tritons and legendary mpc's.

This is why I said f*ck Apple.
I have a laptop dedicated to Serato, one to Traktor, one that I run for production, a cloned version of my production laptop and a cloned Shuttle for production plus another laptop for the internet.
Allows me to treat them just like any other piece of gear I have in the studio.

Apple just has too many restrictions that make headaches and have caused me to have to purchase a new computer because they wouldn't allow me to install an OS that I required.

Booting the computer for the Ren is no different than turning on the 4k, they both work today and will continue to do what they are doing in the future.

I wish I had done more of that over the years.... (Tho I wish I could get decent price for those hardly used Alesis ADATs I have in storage) lol

Start a fake rumor that someone gets their distinct sound from ADATs then put them on eBay.

but as mentioned b4 I'm not into owning 7 computers right now. id like to be minimal. real talk I'm trying to get my land up here and be off grid. i can't have multiple power sources feeding on a minimal amount of northwest sun 4-6 months out of the year.. as much as i love technology i am also backing up and controlling how i use or abuse it. i really do not need as much as i want. i def respect your route and feel you should be able to build your system how you like. just my style of living makes abundant, redundant.

I can say it's Alesis's "Vintage Mode" and will give people that "Iconic" workflow!

Square footage has always been important to me and I like things to be ergonomic.
I have sh*tloads of gear and I pull certain pieces out for certain reasons.
I never met a MPC I didn't like except for the JJ OS which isn't really about the MPC but his direction.

I just like to be able to accomplish my task when I set out to do something which makes tools very important to me.
