Can you sample from CD using SCSI CDRom?

I am trying to take samples from CDs (like sampling a Dre track just for kicks or whatever) but it seems that it is supposed to be hooked up another way and not just using the SCSI connector. I cannot take the samples that I was trying to do. Please assist if you can.

You cannot sample audio through a CDROM drive - you can only load WAV or SND files. To sample from a CD, you need to use a normal CD player and hook up the audio outs of the CD player into the MPC ins.

Thanks. Is this done through using one of the 8 optional outs or do I have to have a mixer? Just want to confirm since I have a CD Player but not the cables to accompany it. Thanks, BsK

No, you can just use the standard inputs on the MPC.

I guess just hook up a CD player to the Record Ins? Is there any specific type of player to use? Standard CD players dont take 1/4" plugs -correct? Appreciate the help, obviously am a newbie, but manual sketchy in a lot of areas and leaves to me asking perhaps simple questions. Peace.
