mpc 2000 info i cant find

hey, i have been looking to buy a mpc for a minute now, but i could never afford it. last night, a friend sold me his for $100, but he hasnt used it in ages. a lot of things were missing, so my questions are......

!. i cant seem to find a manual online that i can download the owners manual. anyone know where i can find one? i may have missed it, and it was under my nose the whole time, so hopefully ill find it before anyone can clown me...

2. when i turn on the mpc, it says insert the system disk. i have no system disk, so where can i download the system files to disk or get a new disk altogether? again, i cant find it anywhere, maybe i dont really know what im looking for, so any help will be apprecaited.

i guess thats all for now. i just this info to get started i think....once i get in and get my feet wet, i guess ill be back with more stupid questions that you guys have heard like a thousand times....hopefully not.

Push buttons as you go through manual to see what they do, you can also get used to what screens are where like that so as to not slow up your creative flow later on.

Highlight EVERYTHING and hit open window (you'll find lots of pages/screens that people miss and later ask about).

Upgrade the RAM when you get a chance.
Get a SCSI HD when you get a chance. (?)
Because as you grow your samples will grow
bigger and bigger requiring more and more space.

Better to have it and not need it than to need it
and not have it (Also pertains to carrying a strap).

ayo lampdog, good lookin out homie. i really appreciate the words man. i have to go to kinkos to print out the manual in an hour or so , so hopefully thatll help too. about how long did it take most people to get use to and comfortable with the 2000? and please, dont come with that "im a genius, it only took me an hour to start makin killa beats" ish, please, be honest. if not with me, at least yourself....

well, the learning process never ends!!

But it took me around maybe 2 months to get comfortable with using it. Dosnt mean i mastered it in 2 months, but i was comfortable using it by then. you'll be fine, trust me

I'm a genuis, I was comfortable from the get go (I just say that cause you said don't). No really I was. I had a Roland R-8 for like 4 years then changed up to ASR10, 6 years later changed up to Triton and MPC. I was ALREADY comfortable though.. I WASN'T a newbie when I got the MPC though. A couple of days of manual reading and pushing buttons and I was fine.

took me a couple weeks. i had training on the dr5 though. but after like 5 years, im still learning new techniques and tricks. i love my classic 2000

interesting follow up, i just found out my mpc has a "questionalble background, which may or may not mean it was stolen recently" according to my homeboy.

for $100 you wouldnt even have to ask me if i wanted it

i got mine used for 750 with no other options installed.

by the way, the mpc dosnt come with sounds. you have to use your own.

you get sounds by sampling, loading samples, sound modules, keyboards, etc....
