Ableton (Midi slave) & MPC (master): Recording starts late

Hi there,

I'm trying to get this to work for 2 days now and I can't find a solution.

My setup:
Macbook Pro with Mac OSX 10.6.8
Motu 828 Hybrid (via Firewire)
Mackie 8Bus
MPC4000 via Adat over Motu 828 Hybrid (so it has no analogue out connected to the Mackie 8Bus, the Motu is recieving its sample clock from the MPC via Adat)

MPC has Midi Out conneted to Motu Midi In and sends MTC 25fps with MMC

Ableton and the MPC sync quite niceley, the beats fall about where they should be (maybe a few ms late, but I can compensate for that later) and Ableton also reacts to the MMC the MPC sends. But when I arm Ableton to record it fails to start the recording on time and misses half a beat (at 170bpm). It's crucial for me to get this working as I have an additional sampler which I want to record in time with the MPC.

Any Ideas? I can get Ableton to start the recording almost no time when I compensate in the MTC settings but then the whole audio gets shifted forwards resulting in half a beat still missing...

edit: It doesn't matter if I record the analogue signal via the 8bus or the Adat bevor D/A conversion

Insert a blank bar or two at the beginning of your sequence, to give the two devices time to lock up in sync before they have to start recording anything.
