I love the REN, but it seems like when it comes to using it as a plugin, the work flow just slows down. Can we please get drag and drop from the (MP software to the host DAW).. Lately i've been exporting as audio stems and reimporting them into logic which is cool, but I really expected since this is suppose to be a computer based workstation that it would have a smoother, and faster plugin to DAW integration.

OR BETTER YET!!!

Allow the MP's midi to be displayed straight into your host DAW (ie. Battery, and every other plugin) so you can sequence and edit your midi in your host DAW which usually has a lot more flexible midi features than the REN software such as (quantize templates from other drum machines including MPC, and custom made grooves from real drummers).

At this point the software is spot on, and has come a long way but sadly I know a few industry producers who have begun to sell their RENS due to it not being flexible enough to fit with they're current work flow that they've made all their hits with. If the REN software isn't going to be a full blow DAW that suits all needs, at least let it work nicely with the programs that do. Just my 2 cents.

Thats actually a good point.. I didn't even think of that. Hopefully they add it. Because the song mode in the MP isn't the most flexible way to work compared to the editing, audio warping, and tweaking you can pull off in a lot of DAW's.

Yeah.. I didn't get why they didn't add multitimbral from the start... as a plugin just using the mpc as a sampler, while your daw is sequencing it. The mpc is a better sampler than most daws, but it's not a better sequencer than any daw in terms of midi editing... So i would of thought they would of thought well we should give the user the ability to use whats great in the mpc which is sampling and rephrasing samples, and let them intergrate it into their daw..

I love arranging in song mode.. At it's basics i like working like that, but it can be much better than what it is...

I do not think that MPC Software is a better sampler than most plugin software samplers.

What is so great about sampling in MPC Software, compared to other software samplers?

The MPC, to me, is about being a hardware sequencer, about interacting with it through the dedicated hardware, not through a computer screen and mouse on a DAW arrange page.

What the MPC is, to me, is lost by sequencing it as a software sampler, from a DAW sequencer.

What is the point of an MPC in that situation, you might as well just use an MPD to control your DAW and a software sampler?

Or use the MPC Essentials plugin, won't that give you your multitimbral MPC inside your DAW?

Together with its hardware controller. it is.

I guess for me its a sampler... I sample alot with the mpc.. instead of loading samples via drag and drop or even the browser via the hardware or plugin instruments... vynal.. cds.. tapes... ipad. synths and live instruments.. portable recording devices.. What i can connect directly to the mpc inputs.. then get it straight into pgm mode.. and tweak... via hardware...

Your point about mousing around in a daw for sequencing is the same for me with sampling...

I like sequencing in the mpc... but i find the daw a much more flexible and powerful sequencer... I've setup shortcuts in reaper to do this.. So mousing has less usage... However I do realise the power of a mouse in certain chores that menu button pressing and maths just can't compete with..

Why not just use a hardware mpc ? to sequence your better software sampler? ...

We are just arguing our bias opinion but both are equally as important...

I noticed with using plugins like.. Battery, BFD, Geist, and most vst's and etc..your midi performance shows up directly in your daw for full blown editing...and with multi-timbral of course it allows you to put other instruments on different channels... These simple features would put the REN ahead of a lot drum machines... But whats funny is i thought these features were the basics of how most plugins work.

Is MP the best sampler?.... I'd say no.. Because programs like kontakt still have a wider selection of editing tools and mouse selection tools that make it a lot more flexible and faster than the MP.. The biggest advantage to the MP is the feel of touching real gear.

The song layout on MP the is good for performances but if you wanted to delete 2 bars off 1 sequence you have to create a sequence just for that... but if it was in a daw..You can just high light the 2 bars and press delete. way simpler.. lol...

Now that the MP is in a good place function wise for people who used the original MP .. Akai should really start taking features from these DAWS and plugins that have more advanced features.

Try and sample something into kontakt.. then chop it up.. Map it to your controller then sequence it... Sample a piano like they have ... then map each note/ velocity layer... Kontakt is a better keygroup sample player.... It is a deeper sampler in terms of that... But as drum and rephrasing sampler, and when i mean sampler, from the point you hear a short sample phrase or sound you want to work with to the point your sequencing it, it is much faster and quicker to get something happening... Especially when you have the controller/hardware to do it with..

See i agree with your title.... Especially the intergration.. they can basically take into consideration what all their legacy mpcs can do good(from a users opinion), and combine it in the ren... It's great that you can sequence in the ren in the mpcway and sample/ program edit in it too .. but there's no need to drastically change whats there already.. It's just refinements.. I think making it work in a hardware setup , a software setup , and a software and hardware hybrid setup is the key. while still keeping the core elements of what user like about the mpc..

For this to happen, i think the developers need a closer relationship with the users...

Another thing i thought about, but haven't tried yet, is loading a kontakt multi inside the mpc software.. You cant acutally load one kontakt instance,(with multi kontakt pgms assigned to midi channels) and sequence it just with software.. You'd have to load multiple instances of kontakt for each pgm.. multiple midi tracks cannot be routed to a multi kontakt plugin track.. . is this correct?

Actually I agree with you about kontakt..You have a point. Especially when it comes to doing drums and chopping a sample loop. I didn't even think about that lol... I do know that when I use it as a plugin... It integrates well.

Like you said a better relationship with users would really help especially since they seem to lack enough beta testers to release a bug free device. Back in my fruity loops days, I remember the fruity loops company (image Line) letting registered users test out each beta until the final release.. and it made the software really tight and on point every time. AND it calmed down loyal users from complaining as much. But then again the developers were on the forums talking directly to the users and sometimes even explaining why they will and won't add certain features...

I think you can load a multi kontakt instance and have each one sequenced in a DAW software but just not in the MP's software.. I'm going to try it out.. I think that may be the difference between using a full DAW and the current MP set up.. i'm going to try it tonight.. I do know that when you open a multi instance of a plugin in the MP.. The software doesn't allow you to export the multis as separate audio files.. you have to solo each one and export.
