All I can think is that it is something screwed up in your JJOS install.

Are there any other applications running on your computer when you are testing this with MIDI Monitor? If so, close them, or maybe even restart the computer, make sure nothing else is running, then test again with MIDI Monitor.

wabox wrote:How do I load back the Akai OS? and will i lose my JJOS password?

No idea about the JJOS password, someone else with more JJOS experience will have to comment on that.

I read that you wont lose it. Gonna install the Akai OS. Will the settings still be the same?

Make sure that you hold down ERASE when powering up, after the OS install, to reset the settings to default.

You should then use the same settings.

You should not really have to change anything, after a fresh OS install and reset, except changing the active track from DRUM to MIDI, and setting the MIDI output channel/port to 1A.

Setting the track to MIDI, and the output to 1A, should send MIDI note on/off messages from the MPC pads into the computer. (but it should have been doing that already)

Don't know.

Either your MPC is not outputting MIDI correctly, or your M-Track is not receiving it correctly, or Snoize MIDI Monitor is not displaying it correctly.

Without a different MIDI device, to test how the M-Track responds to MIDI input from a MIDI device other than the MPC, or a different MIDI interface, to test how the MIDI input from the MPC appears through a different MIDI interface, I have no idea how to proceed.

This person is having exactly the same problem with an M-Track Plus as what you are having, incorrect MIDI messages being received from a MIDI keyboard, but he can get it to work by unplugging the interface from the USB port, and plugging it back in, after the computer has booted...

Maybe give that a try, see what happens in Snoize MIDI Monitor after you have unplugged and plugged the M-Track back in to the USB.

With someone else having exactly the same issues, I would guess it is a problem with that particular interface model, and the Mac OS X version you are running.

i unplugged it and plugged it back in its working now. I guess you have to boot OSX first plug the interface in and than turn your MP ON. I was doing that as you posted it haha.

Phew...HOLY **** SHIT...that took a while to figure out!!!

OK, so it seems that the M-Track has issues with Mac OS X.

Your options are to replace it with a different model of interface, or remember to unplug and re-plug it everytime you start the Mac.

Not sure if a powered USB hub, or attaching it to different USB ports on your computer, would improve the situation, or not.

It is a problem with the M-Track and OS X, possibly the latest OS X (Mavericks), it is supposed to be a class compliant device, so should just work with class compliant drivers built-into/supplied-with OS X, but clearly doesn't.

I think it would possibly need a firmware update for the M-Track, if M-Audio release one to fix this problem, unless it is a problem with the Mavericks class compliant driver, which would need an update to that from Apple.

JJOS should work fine now, as should MIDI from the MPC into Reason, after the USB re-plug.

Its working perfectly now. Hopefully this can help some people.

Thanks so much for all the help man<3

JJ OS 1 will re-install fine. Just put Free in first then load OS1 from the CF, remember to hold ERASE during the 2 OS flashes on bootup.

Well you shouldn't have to swap the plug...But I have seen the need to hot swap or plug after boot on 2 M-Audio interfaces and two by other manufacturers.

Order a right angle USB cord from Newegg so you don't end up having your computer or interface's USB port go the way of your MPK port.

You will still be plugging in and out a gazillion times, but at least a right angle one wont put extra stress on the port with the wobble a straight connector has from it's jutting out and weight.

It's likely not the latest OS X. M-Audio just kind of sucks like that. If it was on Windows you'd be just as likely to be at the mercy of a shitty M-Audio driver, drivers they either don't finish or never update.

As far as a powered hub, yes that is one way to keep the USB plug in, and use the hubs DC wall plug to activate it. But in that case you would need to look at your USB bus and figure out if the port the hub is on is going to be able to use the full 54MB/s throughput of the USB2.0 standard. Otherwise the interface might not work to it's full potential.

So maybe a right angle USB plug is a better option.

And again it's M-Audio they are not going to fix anything or make a new firmware. Their forum is filled with issues that like this, and that was before you know who bought them...

Maybe a USB extension cable would be the way to go, so you are not putting any pressure on the computer USB port when unplugging/re-plugging.

Image

You will probably have to re-plug it after the computer goes to sleep, as well as after powering the computer up initially.

Yeah ill have to get one of these. I already have a hub, but it makes my monitors pick up unwanted noises.
