Hi,

My name is Juan and I am new to the forum so please forgive me if I don't write on the right place.

I recently bought an MPC 1000 and I really want to install JJOS2XL,
the problem is that when I install it (from the load menu in free jjos 3.16) everything seems to be fine and when I restart shows a line in the boot screes saying :
TAP TEMPO + Power On --> JJOS2XL

However, it does not do it.....I press Tap tempo while turning on the machine and it always loads Free jjos.....
I have tried installing OS3 and the same thing happens and I have ended up buying OS1 as it is the only one I can load other that the free version...

And also Tap tempo button work just fine on the free os, so its not a mechanical problem....

Any ideas or help would be much appreciated..... I'm currently gutted and starting to think this was a bad purchase.... cannot really deal with the features of the default akai OS alone.

Thanks a lot

Juan

The load order/OS flashing can get confusing. But I'm sure nothing's broken or anything.

The load/flash order has to usually have JJ Free put in first because XL uses a file format that needs JJ Free to read it. Then you end up with the option to toggle between Free and whatever other one you are using on the boot screen.

I had actually had some odd behaviors happen when first trying to load in OS3, after always having OS2XL flash/load with no problem.

Try it again and try to follow the load order listed on JJ's site. Maybe re-download the OS files just to be 100% sure your OS files are good.

But I'll need to be at my 1k and do it myself later to post a 1,2,3...type steps guide. I'm just posting this quick to let you know it's probably sortable and you didn't get burnt or have anything break.

Maybe somebody else will post the exact steps in the meantime or can write them down off top too. But I'll post them later when I can confirm the steps on my machine.

Thanks for the fast reply Metatron!! :-D

I have already tried a few times and it seems to be something to do with the switching between jjos Free and whatever other version I install from there.

It shows that I can switch between free and OS2XL (or OS3) but it doesn't do it. It just loads the free version every time so I cannot get to the product ID screen in order to purchase password.

I am hoping that when I get the password for OS1 I can update somehow to either 2XL or 3 (still have to evaluate which one suits better) as I remember reading somewhere on the jjos site that switching for OS1 to 2XL does not need the Tap Tempo +power on .

I have to admit that I find pretty confusing the way the installation process is explained in the jjos site but I'm sure I'm not the only one :)

Anyway, I will try again and will post any news....

Thanks a lot!!

I did not quite follow that you are still trying to purchase a unlock for XL/OS3.

But even when not unlocked the install process is still the same. And I had the exact same "strange loop" for hours when OS3 released. But yeah, I posted to let you know it's more of an annoyance you can probably get working rather than a freak out moment...which is totally understandable how you'd be in that zone.

I had just purchased XL straight away, getting OS1 and OS2 as part of the deal. I think on the 2500 OS-XL you can only buy the XL, but the 1k still has the tiered price scale.

It's like 2AM in Japan, but Murai will work with you once it's business hours out there, if you need email support. Just be ready for the language barrier. He will go the length to sort you out though. And I'll be plugging in my 1k in the next few hours to duplicate the steps and hopefully post up a confirmed OS flash/load order.

I know it's stupid, but are you sure you're holding TAP enough long ???

I just sent a question to Mural on his site so hopefully I will get an answer soon.
In the meantime I will do it again and see if its just an annoying loop or me not pressing the button long enough, haha that would be embarrassing :?
Thanks guys :)

Ok Issue solved.

I just received the password for OS1 and then, I have been able to boot OS2XL so now I'm just waiting for the payment to be executed and have my MPC ready to go :)

I guess it was just me panicking when I though my recently bought MPC was faulty or something.

Once again thanks guys for your responses. Its an absolute pleasure to see how people care for ignorant newbies like me :)
