standard audio editors to use with Akasys

Actual I downloaded the demo and the s*h*i*t is live like a motha!!!!!!! I mean s*h*i*t* in a good way as that`s the s*h*i*t to have plus all my other third party effect worked well but I still didn`t use it with aksys yet.

Man you guys were right about DSP-Quattro. It's smoking Peak 4! This is how a sample editor's supposed to be. It's very stable and there's so much more you can do with it. Man, thanks a million Actuel, and thanks Blue Haze for solidifying the judgement. I feel like i've got a whole new workspace now.

Any of youz guys did a side by side audio comparison? What did ya find? DSP Quattro is looking good. I don't know if I can justify spending money on it though.

Ok so its been 7 years since I posted this and I know I´m lazy but finally now today putting Akasys into practice on my mac book pro and Akasys wont load samples in my chosen editor (nether Melodyne single track editor or Recycle2.0) both editors work fine as standalone, wont even open inside Akasys.. any ideas on whats wrong??? I have the latest version of akasys


Going to try DSP-Quattro aswell,..its also a vst host (the best Editor acording to this thread).. then I´m going to run midi in and have it all sync with my 4k (Quattro running audio tracks and VSTs)...if this works I´m officially over the whole ''get a Ren'' phase ... anyone rolling Editorr/VST host inside Akasys? /feedback please

Hmmm... what version of Aksys are you running on?

Im not having any luck on my end .. I get an: ''error sample not'' found when trying to open it with an editor in aksys, yet can I audition the sample from aksys and I know its loaded .. what on god given earth is the problem here(?)


I´m running Aksys 2.61 on Mac i5 ver 10.6.8 ...

Just tried the 3rd sample editor Audacity.. and I get the same error sample not found ... also after paying auditioning samples in aksys list it hangs allot (mouse thinking icon) ..

does it hang like this for anyone else ?

I dont think this is a sample editor problem anymore, any help fellow users would be much appreciated here..

When transferring files from the 4000 to your comp on Aksys use the right click and save to your computer. Im on a mac I think it says "save to mac" Have the file somewhere on your comp and load it from your editor.

Hey thanks for the reply! I know I can do that, but isn't that a workaround? aren't you able do that within akasys straight from the MPC HD?

I mean isn't it supposed to just loads the sample into your chosen editor from the MPC HD once you choose >edit< in akasys? ..

I am at work now so I can't tell you how to do it y memory. However if I wanted to edit in Audacity I have it sorted where the sample goes straight into Audacity.
There is a way to configure this, if I am reading you correctly. I recall it wasn't anything hard either.

It doesn't hang on my computer either. Mind you I never use Audacity for my editing of samples. When I was configuring everything with the help of Dabmeister here in the forum he suggested I get Audacity. He is the one who walked me through the process.

I'd be interested in getting this working myself. I haven't had any joy in linking AKsys to Soundforge.

hahaha, you just resurrected a thread I replied to back in the day. I was f.o.b. I forgot about that handle. Thats funny. I had moved to L.A from Atlanta getting out of a serious relationship, I do miss that chick though. Ahhhh memories..

the editor function of ak.sys does not work so well with os 10.6.8.

Hello All,
I am in front of my computer, Windows XP, that is connected to my MPC4000. Typing on another laptop.
Let me know if I am talking about something different than you.
When I open ak.sys I have the directory on the left.
On the top there are these tabs:
File GO View Sample Edit Help

When I click on Sample Edit:
Delete Sample Cache
Choose Sample Editor

If you click Choose sample editor:
Select a sample editor screen appears.
My computer defaults to Audacity

On my machine it's in the C:\Program Files\Audacity\audacity.exe
Files of type: Executables(*.exe)

So, back to the directory on the left side.
If I click Samples
Then all of the samples loaded in my memory show up on the right side.
If I right click on a sample
then choose EDIT
Audacity opens up with that sample loaded and in wave form ready for editing.

I wish I was able to take pictures for you.
