MPC 2000 disk error help

Hey, I recently bought a MPC 2000 off ebay, my first mpc ever. So my question is do I need the akai floppy that comes with the mpc or is any floppy fine. I ask because after the first use of my mpc any time I try to turn it on it wont read the disk.
So question 1: Is the akai disk essential to having the mpc work even if I have already powered it up and used it once?
Question 2: Will any floppy work for me?

If it is an MPC2000, not an MPC2000XL, then you need to have the two MPC2000 OS files on the disk for it to boot from.

It is just a 2000 not 2Kxl. It was working fine earlier with the akai disk I had in before. Could it be the floppy drive?

If it was booting before from that disk, and isn't now, it could be the disk, the drive, or something else.

You probably should test with another floppy first, that has the OS files on it, if you can.

You can copy the OS files to any disk.

Hmm thank you, is it often an issue besides the floppy drive/floppy disk?
