No it doesn't, the brainwashed have to swamp every Akai OS thread with it. Why was JJOS ever mentioned on this thread? Because of the reasons I outlined.

Because Akai gave up on it, they are not developing it anymore, if you want a better 2500 OS, JJOS is where it is, Akai are not going to do anything for you.

No problem with using Akai OS, if it does what you need.

Well tbh there isn't much to talk about Akai OS for 1000/2500. Akai did a poor job supporting their expensive machines. They basically took your money and ran.

There's a reason why people 'preach' about JJOS. Check and try some of the versions out, you'll be positively surprised. No joke.

No joke, I currently have OS1 on it because its the only way I can convert MTC from a hard disk recorder to midi clock. I know JJOS well, I just don't want to use it. I hate that I have to use it for converting MTC. I still prefer the Akai OS letter size and layout especially as I work between it and my 5000.

You guys just cannot get past the idea that someone doesn't prefer JJOS.

You can not comprehend that we just don't care.

If Akai OS works for you, then great, use it, no one is trying to force you to use JJOS, you are the one making it into some sort of drama, no one else.

It would be nice to see what Akai could do if they tried with the 2500 tho, just out of curiosity. Just as a sort of vanity project for their programmers to test their coding and design skills.

But I'm very much appreciative of what JJ has done. I think most would agree, without JJ the 2500 would have been a bit of a failure.

No I think it's you that can't get past that your "problems" are already solved. They haven't even manufactured a 2500 in over three years. And you think you'll get a new OS? Keep dreaming.

He's wrong, but his point isn't completely lost. I started with an MPC2000XL, great OS, and the 2500/1000 kept the same overall workflow style. JJOS may be better, a lot of people like it.

I tried the last official OS and it was buggy for me, and someone gave me the release before that, and much better.

My major complaint was that it had less sequencer memory capacity than the 2000XL despite the upgrade from 32MB to 128MB. What the ****? Less than 2MB for sequence memory when it can record so much CC/triggers/tracks/etc. for one song?

But I used it as a synth sequencer more than a drum machine, it's not built for that.
