Bug reports & end-user support for Akai's MPC Software 'controllers' including the new MPC Studio 2, the MPC Touch, MPC Renaissance & original MPC Studio and MPC StudioB lack.

I have been searching everywhere for an answer to this problem but have not found anything, please forgive me if this has been posted, but I don't think it has.

macbook pro
osx 10.8.5
2ghz intel core i7
8gb memory
mpc hardware and firmware up to date.

I have been dealing with this issue for over a week. I have been back and forth with tech support with no help. This is what happens...

1. create samples
2. create project with those created samples
3. save everything
4. close software
5. open software
6. load project -
project loads fine, EXCEPT THE SAMPLES ARE MISSING... They appear on the pads, but not in the sample window. They also show up in the browser menu in the MPC software but will not play. The notes appear where they are supposed to be but when the song is playing only the MPC FACTORY sounds play. When I load the CREATED SAMPLES in AUDACITY it plays with EXTREME STATIC.

ANY ANSWERS TO THIS PROBLEM YET?

Seems like everyone is going to the Maschine....

Here are the emails back and forth with akai tech support and a screen shot....

Do you have any ideas how to fix this? I have already completely reinstalled the mpc software and firmware with no results.

My MPC has become useless and I am becoming extremely let down by the product and by the support from Akai.

I will most likely be exchanging this product for Native Instrument's Maschine.

Hello,

I have seen something similar to this before.

Can you try playing the samples you created in Audacity?

Take note on how they play. Any audio? Static?

I have not updated. I am still running osx 10.8.5. What makes this situation more weird, is that after I updated the firmware, everything was working fine, including samples I have created. A couple days after the firmware update is when the custom samples stopped working. Nothing on the macbook has changed. All hardware is the same. No updates have been performed.

Hello,

Can you confirm that you have not updated to 10.9 Mavericks?

I have seen similar occurrences on Mavericks.

Yes, it is only the samples I have created that don't work. All the factory samples work fine.

Hello,

So you are trying to use samples that you have made?

Have you tried using the content that came with the installation?

Do those samples work?

Stephen,

I have not moved the folder at all. The samples still show on my computer, but if I open up one of my user made samples on an audio player (VLC) it doesn't have any sound.

I opened up the 809 expansion plug in and everything, including sound, seems to working within the plugin.

Are the samples still on your computer somewhere?

Also do you get any sound? Test out the expansion plug-ins and see if you get sound from there.

Please let me know how this goes!

Yes, that worked perfectly.

Another problem has arose.... I updated the firmware as stated in the previous message and everything has been working great. As of today, all samples I have created in all projects since updating, are (kind of) missing. They show up in the project when loaded and in the finder, but they just don't play. All WAV files show up in the browser and the pads light up when the song is playing but no sound. When I go to "all samples" it doesn't show the sample on the far right window, where you would usually click the sample to edit. Any help is appreciated, and needed.

Thanks again.

It was blank... If you dont mind, can you tell me what that means exactly?

I will try this out and report back.

I don't understand... Some of my projects that have samples I have created load and playback as they should, and others just don't.

More specifically, the samples that don't load are "sliced samples" when I'm chopping part of a song. But if I manually extract a sample I want, that will load up. Same with a "patched phrase" it will load no problem... It just seems to be sliced samples.

It means that Akai did not program it correctly, and for some reason, after a fresh install or an update (not sure exactly what scenario creates the issue), it leaves this setting blank, and that causes these sort of problems.

Let us know how it goes.

I set bit depth to 24 and sliced a few samples, made a quick project with them, saved, re-opened and eveything was there working how it should.

Seems to be okay for now. After I updated to 1.5 everything was working fine for a couple days then all of then sudden, every sample I sliced after the update was corrupted.

Seems to be ok for now... I will keep updating as time goes by.

Thank you SimonInAustralia, you were more help than Akai tech support.
