Mpc ren and USB 3

I ordered the i7 2.0ghz 2011 Mac mini server with 2 500 gb 7200 hdd for 650 from the refurb apple store the other night I then checked the store the next day and they had a i7 2.3 late 2012 mini server with 2 1tb 5400rpm hdd for 720 so I thought the newer model would be better value as its a quicker chip takes more ram which is faster etc for 70 pound more so I canceled my first order well I have to send it back because its already shipped and order the newer one then 2 hrs later I looked again and see an i7 2.3 late 2012 Mac mini standard with 1 tb 5400 hdd for 570 , this pissed me off lol I wasn't expecting to buy a computer just yet but because my imac is old and playing up I thought sod it ill stick a new one on my 0% credit card or get finance from apple ,main goal get the best computer for the least money(cue all the jokes about buying a mac , after looking on there store I thought I'd get better value on the refurb store not realising its a bit like eBay without the bidding , anyway not to let apple ruin my Xmas for taking me for a ride I ordered the one for 570 and phoned apple to tell them to cancel my second order they said they have shipped it so I've now got 3 mac minis on route to me two ill be sending back lol my credit card is maxed out lol
Ill be keeping the 570 , i7 2.3 Mac mini with 1 tb 5400 hdd 4gb ram
Ill add more ram it takes 16 gb down the road and ill think about adding an ssd and maybe do a fusion drive with the 1tb hdd not worried about the 5400 speed , anyhow my current imac is a mid 2007 2.4 core 2 duo with a 120ssd and a 250gb 7200 hdd and 3 gb ram so it should be a massive improvement

I originally cancelled my first order because I see a i7 2.3 mini with a 256 ssd for 800 from the time it took to speak to Someone at apple and get back to ther store it had gone that's when I ordered the second one , I just looked on there site and its back on there so for 221 extra I could of had an 256 ssd straight from apple to be fair I didn't want to pay 800 and 579 is more in my price range
ill prob only add a 64 or 120 gb due to money and ill prob pay to get it done as its brand new. I did do the ssd and hdd combo on both my imac and MacBook after removing the optical drive but my imac was 5 years old and the MacBook was second hand plus the imac is reporting an 4hdd/ 1/400000 error in hardware test which is prob due to either the hdd failing but tech tool says it fine or the caddy the hdd is sitting in inside the mac .

Honestly bro, and this is just my opinion, but SSD are no where near worth what they cost for the amount of storage you get! What, you're gonna save a whole 15 seconds opening an application? Sorry, but for what these things still cost, I'll pass and stick with my high capacity spinners! I'm not in that much of a rush!

Ok cool I'll see how I get on , your prob right tho ,being that my current imac is 6 and half years old and whilst an ssd in that improved it , my new Mac mini has a geekbench score of about 4/5 times so I should be more than impressed by the overall improvement to even worry about the speed of the hdd

Mostly seconded. SSDs are nixe and fast and make all your applications running quicker, improve booting time etc. But the size is pretty shitty. With a desktop computer I need storage space, but on a laptop it's cool. But no way to work with SSDs when lon-term usage is relevant.

I had more real fun with my C-64, then any computer since. You truly have a living legend there!

There was a program for it called "Music Studio", amazing for it's time.

lol my little brother had one when i was a kid not with music studio tho
my first computer for music was an atari st solid for midi and running cubase got it back in 97 for 150 quid ,two weeks dole money lol, then i brought a pc a few years later which i promptly sold and got the atari back out saved up sold the atari and brought a mac g4 with a studio display in about 2003 when the first g5 came out cost me about 1449 had to get a loan, the display was 500 still got it tho just hooked it up to my new mac mini,sold the g4 to my mate for 150{it lives in his cupboard at the mo still works tho}and brought a iMac in 2008 which iv got in my bedroom now as a media player etc i could prob sell it but for the money i'll get i may as well use it , just got my mac mini so thats 3 computers in 12 years so far not bad ,really think apple computers are worth the extra cash in the long run

got a second hand macbook when the mpc software could be used on its own,
could do with an iPad to play bf4 commander app but can't afford one so i found some dude online that managed to hack the app so it works on an iPhone did last night and it works screens a bit small tho
