I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHAT WORKS BETTER FOR GETTING THAT PERFECT LOOP MAY IT BE DRUMS OR GROOVES,TIME STRETCHING OR BPM MATCH..I HAVE NOT PLAYED WITH TIME STRETCHING TO MUCH BUT I KNOW BPM WORKS SOMETIME BUT NOT ALWAYS ACCURATE..

Perfect Loop Points is what you need to focus on...Without that, nothing can save you....From there u can get the BPM.......From there u can get accurate measures and do what you like. Timestretch...Pitch... etc.

I suggest you try timestretch but to help keep it accurate keep the in/decrease to within 5-10 %

Also. no SHOUTING PLEASE!!!!!

i Use bpm match, but for some reason i thought they where one in the same(on the mpc2xl). I know you do them in 2 differant menus, but i thought they where implementing the same idea; i could be wrong.

but bpm match has always worked for me.

I try to figure out the original bpm of the song first, then enter that into the "original tempo" then go from there. or I tap tempo to the loop, then use that as original tempo.

I thought Time Stretch doesn't down/up tune a sample.
I though BPM matching matches by down/up tuning the sample.

you are right ^^^^^ thats how it works on my triton...but on the 2xl, there are 2 menus in the "timestretch" menu; and 1 where you choose the algorythm to timestrech, and the % and the other where you can choose what bpm you want it to.

There is also anther way on the mpc2xl:

if you loop a sample in Trim Mode, then you go to "parameters" you can do it the way you are talking about, where you change the bpm, and it automatically tunes the sample up and down to fit the bpm.

Listen to this dude......he is exactly right......but..just to expand. The smaller the sample the easier to time stretch(I am talking just about time strech A, the quickest one....noone wants to sit around for an hour waiting for the sample to stretch.)Get the loop points like Bravo said, and then chop the sample as small as you can....zone that mofo out.....hopefully until each sample is 1 beat long...if possible. Sometimes it is not.....but get it as small as possible....than you can time stretch your ass off....
or....
you can get the damn sample looped up correctly....say it is a four beat loop that is 108 bpm's and you want it to be four beats at 90 bpm's(just an example).....
than keep it looped and go into the trim screen and paramaters
tune it down a little bit, before it starts to sound like shit....this is up to you pretty much......
now you have it sounding good at 96 bpm's, down from the 108, and still a four beat loop....Than you timestretch it.....
the quality will be better and you don't have to chop it so fine......
hope this helps a little bit...PEACE.........
