im a renaissance owner...loving it...but after 20 years of music making, seeing digital and computer progamming music evolve...i wanna get back to analog.. so i buy the best last mpc there is....
a mpc 5000 for 450 euros....hoping there will be a update...and rips my renaissance..... for live performances it will be better then travelling with a laptop i think....
450 euros for a mpc5000 fully upgraded is a steal, right?

And now we know that you were right. Good eye!

Not to be negative, but although I would be grateful to see a 5000 update, at this point, I a) don't believe it's ever going to happen; and b) don't trust that Akai would get it right and introduce more issues to what is already, for me, a very usable instrument.

At this point I'd prefer to see a new standalone MPC like has been discussed in other threads on this board. Don't have high hopes for that either, but it is what it is.

MPC-Tutor wrote:Why was MPC5000 OS development was stopped at OS 2.0 in the first place? This was the flagship MPC, they'd put all that effort into OS 2.0, and within days of it being released, many of us were submitting bug reports directly to Akai. It needed a 2.1 update to finish it off.

It seems odd that 4 years later they'd decide to fix the bugs on a machine that, by the looks of things, is no longer being manufactured. If customer satisfaction is the reason, that would have been better addressed back in March 2009 with a 2.1 update.

But if it happens, then better late than never!

And yes, releasing the source code would be a great idea for us, but I can't see Akai going for that.

they probably have a warehouse full of the 5000s that no one will buy based on bugs and poor performance

You do realize MPCs are not analog right?

Yeah okay, i realise that is digital, but i meant, leaving laptop/pc software/mouse out of the equation... More practicall hands on, less programming mouse yadayada...that what I meant with analog...but you're right chapeau ;) I like the idea of a big hard drive for sounds and programs and such...which are digital...but like I said less programming and more instrument like feel also for live...
but what I asked was is 450 € for a mpc 5000 a,good price or what???
happy new year by the way

Anyone from Akai if you are listening, please can we have some clarity on when a new OS update can be expected. Dan did mention it in the video and as you probably well know, a lot of us are humbly requesting some form of an update.
Thankyou

The 5000, 2500 and 1000 are still on the Akai website. Not moved to legacy section yet. Still a chance of an OS upgrade.

Akai, they all won't sync to MTC properly!
