Keyboard for 2000xl

sorry if this has been asked before but i am new to the mpc world and just wanted to ask which keyboard you guys with with your 2000xl? I also have a mpc renaissance and i will also like to buy a keyboard i can use with that one also...thanks

what kind of music do you make?

stand alone keyboard?

USB MIDI keyboard?

looking for synths or more natural sounds?

want knobs,faders ?

are you using it for bass?


I could suggest 1000 keyboards, but I have no idea what youre looking for

Im starting to make basic hip-hop beats then expand to others, i do need a stand alone/midi keyboard because i would like to use it for both mpcs

It really depends on what you want. With the Ren you have the possibility to use VST's and shit like that, so you don't need anything fancy at all, just keys to trigger. M-audio has a cheap midi-keyboard with 49 keys you could look into. With the 2kxl, I don't know what you want/feel you need. Just a simple midi-keyboard? Or something more advanced-- a keyboard that actually contains sounds? And if you get a keyboard with sounds, you could just use the same one with the Ren (it seems from your first post that you want one each?). Basically, I see no point in getting two (if that's what you meant), but that's just my opinion.

Anyway, 2kxl is a sampler, you could feed it with whatever, and use your pads and the m-audio midi-keyboard to trigger your shit. It's cheaper.

Like forknspoon wrote, we need some more information about what you want this keyboard to do for you. What kind of sounds do you want from it? Are you looking for a workstation?

Novation make nice reasonably priced synths/keyboards. So do Korg, Roland, Yamaha etc.
Moog, Dave Smith, Clavia, Access, Waldorf if you have more money and are looking for something in particular.
