KRK RP6 RoKit G3 vs. Yamaha HS7

KRK RP6 RoKit G3 vs. Yamaha HS7

I'm shopping for low-end studio monitors for beat making and general listening purposes and I'm in need of an advice from more experienced people.

Yamahas are said to be more flat and exposing monitors, which means they're supposed to be better for mixing.

KRK RoKits are said to be more hyped but possibly better for listening.

This said, I'm not sure which one of the monitors I'd benefit the best.

Are Yamahas that ugly sounding that they're said to be?

Are the KRK's that hyped and untrustable as they're said to be?

I'd say both monitors are middle not low end.
Krk's I have give me the same mix in several other systems I play a mix in.
Earbuds (Klipsch), my car (rockford fosgate)and a friends cheap headphones (skullcandy).

My friend had krks 5s and after listeting to my yamahas he sold his krks as fast as he could. Bought yamahas. Now he finds his mixes translating better than ever.

Which generation the KRKs were and do you own the HS7s? Or the first generation (HS50M, HS80M)?

My main concern is that if the Yamahas would make general music listening unenjoyable.

mp3's - yes, but in a week u will get used to it

i owned the KRK RP6's and sold them on to a friend, he then sold them on...

i bought, and still own the yamaha hs7's, and for me, they great for mixing and listening.

i have Dynaudio bm's as my 'hi-fi' speakers, which are beautiful for listening to music on, but not as clear as the yamaha's.

the KRK's worked well with the 10" sub-bass, but generally i found them tiring on the ear's -flat, but in a bad way.

i'll be using the yamaha's as my main reference speakers for the forseeable future.

Don't know what to say really...

The HS7s are my first studio monitors ever and I have to say they don't sound as "shitty" as I was expecting, but they definately don't have the punch the KRK 6s have, and they sound "thinner". But of course just like some people have stated, the KRKs are way more hyped than the Yammys.

Overall they're nice, 320kbps mp3s sound enjoyable and I don't find them harsh sounding at all. Recommended.

(The KRK comparison is based on my friends monitors)

NS7's are closer to flat response than KRK's that's why they sound thinner.
That's not to say KRK's are junk, they are not, nowhere close to junk.
