MPC Renaissance. Worth it?

MPC Renaissance. Worth it?

Hey guys! I'm just getting into producing right now and I'm getting my MPK25 soon. I really want to make old school hip hop beats and all of that. I currently also have the Yamaha RX15 Drum Machine which I play around with sometimes and the Roland TR-707. I'm looking at big samplers right now and I wanted to get the MPC 2000xl because Kanye uses it and I want to make music like Kanye too. And then I saw the MPC Renaissance and I really don't know what kind of sampler to get and I would need help right now because I'm new to all of this. Thanks guys!

There's alot of options out there, the bottom line is, do you love the mpc workflow, for many of us, it's the akai mpc OS and workflow/language/history/experience that have us locked in. For me, most of it all makes sense, somethings could be much better, n hopefully they will over time,with updates, but in my book, and for my workflow, nothing comes close to the mpc.

Sometimes you just gotta get the equipment in your own hands, to make a real decision. get one and see if it works for your workflow.

Well its not just the sampler that makes Kanye West beats, you gotta work on being a genius aswell.

The 2500 seems to me like a good "first MPC", never used one tho, but the specs seem good to me.

My first MPC was a 2000XL and its got its limitations, it doesnt have any EQ, and no high pass filter, so it all comes down to what you are going to use it with.

I agree you need to get the gear/software that suits you best. I personally love the MPC workflow and have been using it since '99. I hated the ASR-X but some guys loved it. I don't care for FL or Reason and prefer Live and Logic and my Renaissance. It's very subjective.

I get that part about being influenced by Kanye and his gear since I was influenced by early MPC users. Give it a try but don't leave out any possible fits that might be good for you. Also, a hardware/software combo might work too. Get ready to spend some $$$ lol

Well that's the thing guys I'm totally new to this and I just don't know. I just see MPCs everywhere and I'm started to get the envy to have one. So I thought I shouldc ome here and ask you all. So like if I want to make old school hip hop, what would you guys suggest for a sampler, anything though not only MPC. And is the MPK25 good to start off with? Because I ordered it a day ago.

Okay so guys right now all I can afford is a MPC 2000XL and I'm doing this trade with a guy for my PS3 and like some extra money. I really can't get my hands on a Ren right now so I'll save up a grand and a half for that later. Any tips for the MPC 2000XL?

If you can afford a 2kxl why not dive full in on a 4k?
Both are good machines and can work wonders.
I have both.

2500 w/ jjos = a killer machine, if possible, get that!

The type of music you wanna make can be made with any machine.
Don't think mpc's are for hiphop, think where thy are for anything you want.

Well cause I'm trading my PS3 and like 200$ for it but now I got my hands on the SP-606 for only 250$ and idk what to choose

What software are you using with the Mpk?
