Apogee Duet - MPC 1000

Hi guys, i've been following the forum for a long time, and i have to say it's been very helpful different times, but i couldn't find the right answer to a problem which i am having these days. I got my MPC 1000 last month, i freakin' love it, especially with jjos running on it, my problem is that I'd like to use it with my apogee duet through my macbook pro. How can i do this? So far i always had to disconnect my monitors from the apogee to connect them straight into the MPC. So I bought a MIDI USB cable but I can't figure out the right way to connect it to my macbook so that I can use the MPC without having to disconnect the monitors from the Duet everytime?
It's a great audio interface, so i'd like not to change it to get a new one only for a MIDI input!

A MIDI cable is used to send MIDI note on/off messages, MIDI control change messages, MIDI sync, etc.

It does not send audio, I don't think it is going to help you at all, for this.


I think that you might be able to leave the monitors plugged into the Duet outputs, leave the MPC outputs plugged into the Duet inputs, and possibly use the mixer/router in the Apogee Duet Maestro utility to mix in the direct input coming from the MPC, into the Duet outputs.

How am i supposed to connect the MPC outs to the Duet? It only has two mic outs, beside the stereo ones

MPC STEREO OUT >> APOGEE 1/4" INPUTS
APOGEE 1/4" OUTPUTS >> MONITORS
APOGEE FIREWIRE/USB OUTPUT >> COMPUTER FIREWIRE/USB INPUT

Check in Maestro, but you should be able to link your 1/4" inputs on the Apogee to create ONE stereo track, now you can record the stereo mix from your MPC to what ever DAW you chose. It's a pretty simple & nice setup, really!
