I returned it for a full refund. They did not have any other used 500's in stock. I am currently waiting for the delivery of another unit from a different store to my house. Should be here this week, hopefully I will have better results with this one.

hallo, im new to this, but i have a MPC1000BK, it has 128mb ram, and is running JJ OS 4.87.

it came with a 32MB CF Card, and i have now bought a 4GB CF card. when i insert the 32MB card and connect it to the Computer, it pops up on my computer, or on mac's finder.

but when i do the same thing with the new 4GB card, there i can see the card in device manager or in the Disk utility, but it doesnt show up on my computer or the finder.

i have formated the new 4 GB CF card in the MPC, this must have worked, as the file name changed after this in disc utility, i see there that the card if formated to FAT32. The old card has the format FAT16 as i can see.

because the old card is recognized i think that this is not an issue of the Card slot.
I have checked for driver updates.

when connecting the new 4GB CF card via a card reader to PC, pops up a message to format the CF card and when trying same on mac it just shows up in disk utility but again not as a removable device in finder.

what is it actually with this OS version 4.87, is it JJ OS Version 1 or Version 2 or is it even the free version ?

Any Tip what i still could try out ?

This is the MPC500 forum, JJ doesn't live here.

Try the JJOS forum upstairs.

My mpc is still version 1.11. Its doing everything I need it to do except for connecting to my mac ( I also have Windows via Parallels). I've read the manual as well the threads how its supposed to just mount (after toggling to USB connec) & watched enough videos showing the same. I've also read thru all the bugs in the bug thread.

Is it possible my usb isn't showing because I didnt update?

Also is there any huge differences I'm missing between 1.11 and current 1.31 version. I'm a big believe in "if it aint broke dont fix it". I'm using a card reader but life would probably be easier if I could just connect and drop.

Thanks

I would update, you can always reload the older OS if it doesn't work for you, assuming the older version is available.

Try a different USB cable or USB port, try direct to computer USB port if not already, unplug other USB stuff, etc.

If still not working, maybe the USB port, or it's connection to the PCB inside the MPC, is damaged.

I was looking around for older versions before I update. Any idea where to find an older OS to downgrade or revert back if needed?

Not sure where to find the older versions, unfortunately most places with it only provide the latest version.

Though if you look at the 1.31 release notes, there is quite a bit that is fixed/added in the updates, and nothing mentions USB, so it might not fix your USB problem...

You can revert, you just load up the older OS file.

The problem is finding the older OS file to load.

If you look at all the bug fixes and additions since version 1.11, I wouldn't want to revert, unless it was doing something weird with my previous MPC sequences/samples/etc.

also i was gonna ask, is ur memory card formatted right? did u format it in ur mpc before u started putting stuff on it, do u have a different cf card laying around, how is ur usb cable, try a second one of them.. do u go to proper usb mode on ur mp?? oh yea, what type usb does ur computer support?? also if all else fails u can get a cheap cf card reader for ur computer off ebay from china, i got one a while back for 9.00$ cause the mpc i think is usb1.0 and its hella slow, takes hours to load samples from my computer to it, but with the card reader i got it takes minutes..

I'm not sure I'd want to revert either but I have seen quite a few people in the forums discussing the issues they've had.

I haven't had any but aside from the USB issue however I do see in the log they've added some new features and wanted to take advantage. Just 1 of those things I dont want to regret if the mp starts spazzing on me

I appreciate the info. Maybe I'll keep poking around and will hold off til then

I bought the mp used off Ebay and it already had the sounds and etc on the card. I ended finding a old card reader which is what I been using so far. I didnt want to lose the music and sounds but just realized I can put everything on my mac mini and start from scratch by formating the 8G card. Everything else I tried before posting though
