Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Is there anyway to take a bass note, and alter the pitch mid-note? It's hard for me to explain this..... i want to create a bassline that changes notes/pitch w/out being chopped...... that is to say goes up in pitch midway thru the duration of the sound (think Jay Dee/Slum Vill basslines or a fretless bass when the bass player slides his fingers up and down the neck during a note).

Would this apply to my variation slider? Is there a way to apply the pitch shift while playing the note, instead of after the fact?

Anybody follow me? lol... sorry i can't be more technical......

You cant pitch bend internal samples in a an MPC2000/XL, you can in an MPC4000 though.

Damn... so there's no way???? No alternate means or anything?

I'm also in the market for a comp. pgm... mainly to be used for editing, not production. What would you say my best bet would be?

Do your bass packages offer any samples with a pitch bend?

I reckon your best bet is to get a sampler that allows pitch bending - even a software sampler like Kontakt allows this. In the MPC, you could chop the middle of the bass note, assign to the slider and set to 'TUNING' - then have it repeat radidly in succession while tuning up - set the attack and decay to smooth out the transition - but it is not exaclty ideal.

All the samples in my packs are pure straight samples - you wouldn't sample bent notes when multisampling.

Soundforge, Wavelab and Cool Edit are the main audio editors out there.

I was definitely leaning towards Soundforge.

Thanks for everything.

Much appreciated.
