Mpc 2000xl hack

Why not use the mpc2000xl for what is was made for? Sequencing. And get a sampler for your sampling purposes, the S-series are dirtcheap these days and have a lot of the features people are asking for here.

Yup, I'd love to see an alternate OS for 2k/2kxl, BUT really there's not much different I would need from the MIDI/sequencer aspects. The sampler/sound generator portion has limitations but super convenient. I agree you attach almost any S series sampler to the mpc and you got all the based covered

Maybe Akai is willing to give the source code some day. Then some bugs can be resolved and some nice tiny features can be added.

Yo, it needs a quick highpass filter. might be less illegal to somehow install these new features shipped without copywritten OS code, then make it free so people can fix the bugs and make it better. sort of like patches or OS upgrades, just a bad idea because im not a machine language programmer. and know you would probably have to reverse the original OS, and modify it to use a plugin patch system, so, the OS would have to be rewritten in open source and not infringe on the intellecual property of the original operating system. I think once you have the data stream and the CRC you could make a gui for a virtual machine. then you can tinker and test without having to install on the mpc , then dump it as the operating system update or OS file. Its a long shot finding someone willing to write the whole thing from the ground up, but that would be the legit way. Id use anything as long as it works and has more features. so get busy on that, and i'll pay 20 bucks for it.
