synth sounds

Hello all pls. help me if you can...

I have my 1000 hooked upto my synth keyboard via the midi in/out ports and can trigger samples/drums with my keyboard, and vice versa..(trigger my synth sounds with the mpc drum pad).

However I can't get the keyboard synth sounds to record and play through the mpc. What's the deal? I've tried everything - channels, soft-thru etc...What am I missing? Can somebody step me through this?
I'm gettin depressed over it.

(I use a Microkorg and a yahama if that's any help)

You connect your mpc and synth via MIDI cables. MIDI transfers control DATA NOT SOUND. This mean that you can't hear the synth sounds through your MPC or your MPC sounds trhough your synth. You need a mixer to mix the audio of your mpc and your synth. This goes for every mpc synth combination.

Yup. You are going to need something to bring those 2 devices together. You defenitely need a mixer.

Wen i first started out i used a regular dj mixer for my MPC and other modules...

basically dont let "mixer" throw u off into thinking u need to spend lots of $$$

Go to ur local Guitar center/music store...explain ur setup, and the representative shuld b able to guide u to the right mixer for ur setup.

OK got another question...

How do I solve the problem of playing back 2 different programs/sounds on my keyboard when the two different programs/sounds are used on 2 different tracks on the mpc?

Anyone know how to get around this?

Sounds that are playing back on you mpc don't trigger midi on any of the midi outs so those sounds will not conflict with the sounds on your keyboard.

If you are just going to sample the synth you don't need a mixer. Get a guitar lead from the synth audio out into tbe input in the back . If you have monitoring on you can hear the synth while the record button is lit.

Was going to suggest Direct Recording, but then realised the MPC1000 doesn't have it, thought that the MPC1000 and MPC2500 ran the same OS, it seems not.
