Who **** knows with Akai.

Well they know, and the beta testers know, but they won't tell anyone.

Should be by now, doesn't mean it is.

Can't even get a master **** tempo setting in there, a year and a half after release. :hmmm: :Sigh:

Yep, it is frustrating to see it get developed and standard MPC features like that not addressed.

Makes you wonder who is driving the development decisions...probably a certain **** beta tester who only works in single/long individual sequences, and developers totally disconnected from the user base.

Well, this mostly comes down to legality. Non-disclosure agreements aside, no software company can publicly discuss up coming features that aren't coming out within a certain time frame. I don't know the exact law, but it's along those lines. Then on the other hand, it's like you mentioned in another thread last week, no sense mentioning something that might have to get pulled or may never be implemented due to complications!

Yeah! Something about it has to be scheduled to be release within the quarter of announcement or some shit. Or else there's a fine. I'll look for it. The president at Avid explained it on the Avid forum prior to the release of Pro Tools 11.

Can't see why they should be prevented from discussing what they are working on, maybe without committing it actually being in a certain release.

But maybe it is something to prevent vaporware hype?

For me I really don't care what 1.6 have cause for the master tempo was a big feature I wanted .It's annoying that I gotta use other software for a master just to control my tempo .

Something to do with influencing market share unfairly, based on "hype" I believe!

Yeah, OK, I can see that, especially at the global corporate level that a lot of the tech companies are at, big $ involved.

Yeah! One of the examples that was used on the Avid forum was similar to this: say Steinberg announces Cubase with this this and this feature and it's scheduled to release in a month. The same week Ableton comes with an announcement claiming the same this this and this feature, or maybe even better features, but has no release date. This could make customers want to hold out for the Ableton product instead of going for the Cubase release, when the Ableton product may not be released anytime soon.

It was explained something like that.

Yep, makes sense, would still like to see the law that applies to it, though at the bigger end of the market, Microsoft/Apple/etc., with the big $ involved, it is more likely that a law has been created to address it.

Here you go. I did a quick search. The actual law seems to be called "Antitrust Allegations" I believe. And you were spot on with the Vaporware thing. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vaporware

Thanks for that, a very interesting read, but I don't really think the antitrust laws would apply in this situation, in terms of letting users know what they are actually working on for the next release. Seems that there would be a clear intention of including the features that they are working on, that it was not being announced to manipulate the market, and that could most probably be proven.
