Controllers are so boring for DJing (well most of them anyway). Maybe to augment a proper setup they are cool but those things don't get me excited about DJing. Controllers kind of took the fun away for me. I've DJ'd 15 years now and the last couple of years I just kind of phased out because it wasn't fun for me anymore. Just been producing more instead. But I plan to get DJing again. Just ordered a broken CDJ2000 off ebay for $400, gotta fix that up along with some other gear I have that needs repair.

Now something like this gets me a little excited to get back into it.



That, plus maybe a MIDI fighter 3D or traktor F1 to do some remix decks stuff in combination with the CD decks. The new pioneer CD decks HID control have full 2 way communication with Traktor so you can browse, select, and load tracks without ever having to look at the computer and you have the full waveform display and track info right on the CD deck. Don't hit sync and make it fun again! The basics are important. Sync is for if you plan to do something much more creative with the digital stuff. If you're playing normal two table style and doing standard mixing give yourself something to do and beatmatch the tracks

It's fine as long as you're using the saved time to do something else creative. I'm guessing a lot of them would be capable to some extent simply from hearing phasing problems that happen even with sync. Though I think they would have troubles with adjusting the right direction and noticing the slipping beats quick enough before other experienced ears in the audience did. It's in your bones after djing for so long, I hear it happen at shows with experienced DJ's, it stops me in my tracks. I look up see if the DJ has noticed and if they haven't I just cringe like "come on give it a nudge, come one….". Now vinyl, most them would fail horribly, shoes in the dryer style simple because it's a whole different skill set of riding the pitch, dragging the platter, or tweaking the center spindle, let alone preparing and releasing a vinyl.

Good and bad. The officials were so surprised that everyone didn't just start shooting each other and the whole city didn't go up in flames like they expected. (seriously, the general articles in the paper were all about the police being so surprised that no crime happened during the first day of legal marijuana). I even read a poll in the local paper about how about 40% of people here said their number one fear of marijuana legalization was that there would be more crime . Everyone was calm and there were no problems on opening day (of course, people have been lead to believe some pretty wrong things about it).

Other than that, it unfortunately has really upped the price of everything even for those with medical cards simply because of the massive demand and not enough supply. Maybe that will shift back once the supply is there but who knows.

I'm an occasional smoker so it doesn't really effect me much but it's about time that it happened (I made sure to vote). I'm hoping others will follow suit when they see how it doesn't cause many problems for people and saves bucket loads of money on fighting and incarcerating people for something so docile as cannabis.

Hopefully it spreads across the US, then in a few years they might start considering it here. We are still in the grip of reefer madness scare tactics down here, the MMJ crusaders are still having a shitfight to get their side of it accepted.

The medical market seems to have really pushed/expanded the available concentrates and edibles, that sort of shit, along with the wide variety of strains on offer, would be a dream come true.

lucky you guys… they are trying to **** us medical users in WA, they are trying to take away our right to grow our own, giving us a shitty dui law, trying to tax us on our meds, calling us fakers and totally shut done dispencerys as well as gut our medical law making mmj peeps register like sex offenders…. its sad, the liquor boaed and the state see $$ and they don't care who gets ****…man, CO did it right., wa is full of greed..man, and i moved here from TN and loved how free and compassionate it was here, but things are changing

I'll tell you what makes my wallet have a heart attack!

That Pioneer set is easily over $4000 MSRP even with the bells and whistles. I've DJ'ed through all the "fads" in DJ'ing. From turntable purist, CDN's, CDJ's, controllers, etc.

I too love the feel of good 'ole wax fondling and still do it from time to time with my home-based personal decks but after all these years, **** it just give me my MixTrack Pro. You WILL NOT KNOW the difference in the crowd at a club, party, wedding whatever.
