This update is pathetic!!!!! Step Edit should have been there from launch a year and a half ago!!!!! I still can't do basic ass sh%t in this software! This is your best mpc but I can't automate a program on a qlink???!?!?

But then they weren't working hard because the box was sold with promises their Ren could.t deliver.

I agree that the step edit feature is a basic feature that should have been there from the jump.

My biggest concern is that at the pace of these updates, and the functionality that they are adding, it just seems that it would be years before they get some of the things in there that we are all asking for. It's becoming apparent that they either a) don't have as many programmers as we'd all like to think; or b) the majority of the team is already onto the next big thing.

It stinks because this thing is only one feature away from me being able to use it in my workflow the way I want to work (more virtual outputs). But every update goes by without any attention to it.

Hope NAMM shows something promising because I'm close to thinking I won't ever be able to use it like I want to.

The documentation department is most likely busy with other tasks. Akai is really tight in terms of staffing. I had a problem with a Numark DJ controller and discovered that the same person I had dealt with on an MPC issue also handled the Numark products and others.

Regarding documentation, at the very least I'd like to know what the 300+ enhancements are. Just odd to me, that you'd write that, but not list what they are. Are these "changes" or "enhancements"? Change being, "change the contrast on this button". Versus an actual product enhancement.

Release notes don't say. Anyone have a list of the 300+ enhancements?

Fairly said....the last months i really started loving my ren and its software again, its more stable, plug ins working ok...and I was really excited bout what's gonna come...
but this update is disappointing....but I have a feeling that at namm they gonna show 1.7 or 2.0 or new software (we have to buy again) where we can record external synths guitars vocals...as an add on, or besides the current software
also let me ask u this...
if they would redesign the whole software, with the consequence of the songs and,sequences made in the current software, will not open in this new software...
how much would u mind?? I'm,having mixed feelings......i imagine with al the ponds akai is fishing in, they will try to compete with a full daw like propellerhead is trying....i would not mind, if they were doing it right...better to focus 100% on one thing than 1% on a hundred things...m-audio numark etc.... Akai needs sum soul searching...or come hard take risk and spend less time on marketing....get a core business....
btw. I agree that it should've been 1.5.1... Well to be fair maybe 1.3.5 but okay, that all being said, I love making music on this machine.... Its the way for me...it really is, but its still limited that's okay if it was 2002.... But it isn't...
the bankruptcy thing in 2005 I didn't know...explains a lot...but it would be a shame to see this company ruin it self's..... Maybe Akai should contact UNESCO the mpc stays a hip hop relic and it changed music, use of samples....so get it together akai!! Love u!

The Ren has always recorded and nudged in 960 PPQ. Nothing has changed in that aspect. The point is that now you can also nudge in 96 PPQ.

I thought only the 4000 had 960 PPQN.

Documentation is just as important as the software itself, it's part of the update. Perhaps this is just a temporary oversight as I find it hard to believe that in all the months of 1.6 development they couldn't have got the documentation guy to rustle up a few pages to explain the new features in their own software update.

That section of the wikipedia pagehas been written in an incredibly vague way, I assume because the person writing that section didn't really know much about that bit.

However, the 'current' akai Pro is owned by inMusic Brands and really has no relation to that previous 'bankrupted' incarnation of Akai Professional, so it's really not that relevant.

That vid has nothing to do with Akai, it's an independent video from a beta tester. I'm sure Akai will put something out sooner or later...
