MIDI Sync. Tracking drums from MPC to Ableton.

Hi. Lately I've been using my midi interface to record my MPC drums into ableton. Basically, I'm tracking out my drums so i can manipulate/mix them individually in ableton. I tweak the latency as best I can, also adding a blank bar prior to the start of the drums, to allow ableton to catch up. It has worked previously, but now the drums jump around every time i record. To test, I took 4 tracks, and recorded the exact same pattern, with the exact same latency settings. Each time, the recordings were slightly different. Has anyone else experienced this?

This video shows EXACTLY what I am doing. The issue is that each time I record, the start of the loop has slightly changed, so it is impossible to simply move to the next track. They are no longer in the right spots like they were in the MPC (the start points).

No one? Surely someone out there must have experienced this problem.

i have experienced a similar problem tracking in to cubase.

my advice is - just don't sync it.

if you are planning to use ableton to replay the loops anyway just set ableton's tempo to the same as the MPC and let the MPC use it's own clock.

after your loop is recorded trim it up and it should be fine. the timing doesn't seem to drift when it's not synced to anything. except over long ass sequences.

ableton is notoriously imprecise when sending clock apparently.

Thanks for the reply! Ya that's what I've been doing lately. It just kind of sucks because now I have this midi interface and nothing to do with it. I've heard the same thing about ableton; unfortunately I've used it for a long time so I've grown accustom to it. I enjoy everything it has to offer except this frustrating midi sync. I'm just hoping it's some sort of setting I'm missing, not the MPC itself.
