Wouldn't it be funny if they drop a update every few days, until namm, and then dropping 2.0... Just f*cking with people like me complaining bout delayed release dates not enough updates...would be great to great...

on topic : I love the ren and its software, not liking this update, not liking basic functions being presented as revolutionary...but okay, its the way nowadays many companies do this in all industries...selling is more important than pleasing...sometimes I even feel like, they don't please us so they can shove a new device in out throats...but I really hope the ren is the end of the line and only the software and computer keeps improving....

We all know Akai can't do that,they obviously don't have the staff/support/ideas/goals or timetable most users want.

Think it might be time to pass it on to JJ,cuz waiting 3 months for such a weak update,is a joke.


Drag n drop export audio/midi - plus more outputs these are major requests - most users have been screaming about.

Akai knows what end users want,but they can't seem to deliver, Native Instruments Maschine had these on day one, with 1.0 release.

Ahh almost forgot, they can't code a simple rename track feature, thanks guys really putting in the hard work over there.

I do think expectations run too high with these updates, there's only so much they can practically work on. What I feel would help immensely is for them to actually release a full and complete change log, listing every single bug that's been fixed - at least this way people are going to appreciate just how many little bugs and tweaks are going on in addition to the 'headline' features they've added.

But yes, lots of little niggly stuff dating back to 1.0 seem to be continually ignored which is frustrating.

Im looking for new features and new design.

Bug fixes shouldn't be 'features' of an update.

I'm looking for bugfixes and basic MPC features/workflow fixes, that should have been implemented by now, not necessarily anything 'new'.

not sure if you're agreeing with me or not.

either way… bug fixes should be standard, new features are what we are looking for.

I want old/basic/standard MPC features/workflow implemented in MPC Software, and what is there cleaned up, rather than anything necessarily 'new' in features and design.

I suppose it depends on what you are talking about when you say new features and design.

It's clear that the Ren was released too early, and that caused grief for most of us.
However, if we can simply accept it and get past that, and see what they're doing now – fixing it, making it better for us – it's going pretty well.

I bet there's a mixer and automation fix coming.

What we got with 1.6 is something that's an essential feature in the older MPCs, so it makes sense that it was added at this stage, and I'm pretty sure it's already full steam ahead towards more "modern" features we all crave for.

Personally, I'm quite happy.

I'd still like to see metering, better implementation of submixer, alternating/rev loop, detaching of a midi note to create a track of its own, audio track…

Over 1 year to rename a track is getting weird. no real major updates so far,all basic stuff that should have been included on day 1.

Not gonna happen (move past it), and rightfully so.

It makes it worse when the basic features are finally added and they are hyped up. I'd much rather hear them say "in this release we added some basic features that we've wanted to implement since 1.0, but wanted to make sure we did it right, and in a way that change the way you work in a positive way".

I'm not as confident that they'll get these mixer changes done, more virtual outputs, the things in your list, and basic features, etc. And rightfully so. Their development cycle in the past has reflected a "window", then they move on. But would love to be proven wrong.

Your speaking common sense, clearly here. I think most users want the same thing.

Your right. That's always the case but they are the most requested features to date which must be important to most of us. Those 2 request IMO is a no brainer for how a lot of us modern producers work.

Regardless, what happens is if its not mentioned then its not important. I admit it can get crazy here and I don't like that but its legit when you spend your hard earned money and you don't get what you paid for(for some $1300) or at least expected. Even with the benefit of the doubt fast results are expected.

I am happy with it.

It's still hard to believe some of the requested features not being in the software yet are keeping people from using this machine. I've made so much music with it.

I hope 1.7 or 1.8 brings plugin automation. The day they add audio tracks ...that'll be the day I don't have to open Pro Tools... and I'll pop bottles of champagne in celebration. But really, I've had no real complaints since 1.5.
