I've not seen that kind of installation pop up before, it's not particularly end user friendly. Most installers will tell you they are running a system check and then tell you you need to be running Mac OSX 10.7 to install. For example, Maschine 2:



Seriously though, you'd have thought they would have announced this on the download page and release notes, and even a pre-announcement to give people time to make the preparations to upgrade their system, it's a fairly big deal.

10.6 wasn't there for 1.5 either, not sure when it was removed.

Akai were saying 10.6.8 was no longer supported a month ago, so maybe dropped with 1.5?...

The Essentials Software requires OS X 10.7 or 10.8 (at this time).
The MPC Software no longer supports 10.6 as well.

2 months ago they were saying 10.6 was supported, seems their tech support doesn't really know what is going on ...

The MPC Software has not been cleared/updated for official OS X 10.9 support. We recommend using OS X 10.6-10.8 with the MPC Software and 10.7-10.8 using Essentials. I do not have a release date to offer for updates. The software will grab any driver update download upon launching the software with the internet on.

1.5 installed and worked fine for me in snow leopard. Was that J Sandeen post from the 'Akai - get satisfaction' forum?

Looking at the official release note history, there's nothing in there about dropping Snow Leopard support. I don't have a problem with them dropping Snow Leopard support, it's just the way they've done it so quietly.

BTW, there's no new manual in the 1.6 installer, and the one on the akaiprompc site is the 1.3 version.

Surely a priority is to ensure the latest release, on the day of release, includes a fully updated user manual to explain all the new features.

It looks like support for 10.6 was dropped with this latest Essentials and MPC Software in the 1.5 versions. Im looking to get an official word from the dev team

The new revision of the software was just uploaded which no longer supports 10.6. This was a very recent change that is in the process of being reflected on the website. In general, the MPC Software or Essentials will no longer be tested on 10.6. You will see the site reflect this in the coming 24hours.

I would highly recommend updating to Lion in the near future.

Samples are not in alphabetical order in the list for Layer 1/2/3/4 in Prog Edit.

1. in T.C mode 'selection' does not work properly. if i hit pads i should be able to quantize only the pads i have selected, but instead it somehow quantize the notes i have selected by mouse or sometimes it quantize the whole thing.

2. in T.C 'Length' mode no matter how i set to 'selection' or other option it always quantize length the whole sequence.

3. why isnt my 'latency adjust' setting is not saved!?

4. after sampling lots of audio, the audio file is not saved with the project sometimes. this is frustrating after hours of sampling and chopping, when you save the project the audio file is just gone!

5. on event list, i scroll through the events the piano roll scrolls with it when in no scroll mode. when set to page, scroll mode the piano roll view just jitters.

6. i got crashed while checking on 1.6 new length quantize feature just in 10min. i still cant work on this buggy machine.

In the Track Mute screen, when you select a blue marker to extend or shorten the muted part, the screen jumps to a random place in the sequence. This happened in a 176bar long sequence, so this bug might only occur in long sequences.

Are you on Mac or PC? What OS?

1. Have you pressed the "Hitting Pads Selects Events" button? It's directly to the left of the List Editor button in Main Mode, Prog Edit, or Prog Mix modes.

2. I can't duplicate this one! This typically quantizes the notes to the nearest grid mark in relation to your time division. It's a little hard to explain, but it's working good on my end.

4. Can you be more specific? How long was the sample?


5. Can't duplicate this either. How many bars is your sequence and about how many events are recorded to the track you experience this on?

Hmmm! Not happening for me! Mac or PC?

My exported sequence, from song mode, is playing some weird sounds after the 4th bar, but only between bars 5-8.

The exported song to mp3 is fine.

What's happening? after the 4th bar, there is a mix of drum hits/snares and samples that play over my chorus sequence. There are a series of snare hits going on that i can't find. maybe it's a mix up of tracks, overlapping between sequences. there are blank pads hitting.

hoping this is isolated. but i will be more diligent in always using an used track # from all sequences, when going back in and adding new sounds.

but it's not happening on the mp3 I exported from the song screen.
this is my first 1.6 song.

You really have to make sure that the tracks match up with each other, in terms of track type, what is on each track, etc., when joining sequences together in Song Mode.
