A mixer that changes when sequences change, and can't work any other way, in an MPC, should never have been in there from the start.

I think NAMM 2014 they are going to release the real deal, probably an 1.8 update, and future updates as well as a new controller

yes.. it's easy for me to be optimistic since I never been burn from Akai in the past, but I just think we should wait until NAMM 2014 before we express are frustration with these updates

That's only some people. My Ren and software works solid and I put a gang of work in on this machine but again I or we expected to see more on the initial release considering the price tag. I did not expect that we would have to wait for features that were already being used by its hardware predecessors for years before hand. Its not right.

I wouldn't have to open Pro Tools if they just added Place Event to the sample recording process.

This is an MPC, I would like to see synced sample recording with Place Event, to me, that makes more sense in a sequence/sample based MPC workflow than audio tracks, and would be a **** easier to implement, while waiting for audio tracks to be implemented for those who need audio tracks.

They seem to have been on a 3 month release schedule up to now.

They did say that after 1.5 updates would flow more frequently, so November matches that, though it seems they are not able to pull it off.

Maybe with 1.6 being originally due in November, 1.7 could have been scheduled for January, so maybe the next update will be at NAMM.

Probably during NAMM they will demo some new stuff youre gonna love in the next imminent update but it will be in a very controlled environment so it doesnt crash as Daniels mascara runs down his face

The reason it contains very little might be because they had to remove something they found did not work correctly, at the last minute, just before releasing it at Christmas.

I could see a 1.7 update with one new major feature and a few bug fixes around NAMM time. Simply for the reason that the sooner they can get to 2.0 the sooner they can charge everybody some more money.

They just have to do better than this 1.6

I am happy that they are working on updates....

But I would really like to see a midi template editor and stand alone controller function like Maschine has

It is a little bit frustrating that I have to start the MPC software for triggering another drum vsts...in that case I use the Maschine controller

Perhaps they will release a new mpd series for universal midi control

At the moment I feel I have the best limited Ren controller

This would require the capability to do it within the MPC controller hardware/firmware.

I suspect that if not designed to do this from the beginning, it might not be possible.

Though it does send MIDI notes from all the controls when the software is not running, so who knows.

I've notice that and thought how strange that is. I don't understand the reasoning behind that. I mean why not? Is it to force us to buy other controllers? It would seem that you would want your consumers to have that flexibility to sell more units.
