I wonder if anyone knows of a plugin that shifts the frequencies like the native akai one?

I'm not totally sure how it works so I don't know what to search for online.

I thought I'd ask here.

frequency shift is very different from pitch shift.

pitch shift shifts everything relatively and so harmonics remain intact.

frequency shift just scoots it all over and so harmonic relationships are totally lost.

makes for some weird fft/metallic sounds.

here's one vst

another:

the michael norris stuff has plugins that do this if you are on mac:

I don't think I've ever heard of freq shifters (Save for part time strippers doing shift work). Got it now! Much appreciation for the clarity.

DJ Hellfire wrote:"Native Akai" one? Vintage Mode? :hmmm:

i was hesitant to post because i dont know the native akai effects, and they could have very easily mislabeled an effect a 'frequency shifter'.

however - i did a 'dear google' and found that it is a native effect on the 5000. and it seems to be implemented correctly.

maybe that's what he means.

im not totally sure what the effect is, but its some kind of stereo shifting thing… sounds cool and is used by jamie liddll quite a lot.

I'm on a mac so need to find a plugin that is compatible.

any other suggestions?
