I've just built a new Windows 7 64-bit machine and am using the Ren's ASIO driver for the output in the MPC software. I currently only have an on-board sound card for the computer's audio output. Would there be any point in installing a new sound card for use with the Ren? Would this possibly improve any audio performance with the Ren? If so, does anyone have any suggested sound cards to use?
This question is purely concerned with performance and stability with the Ren and MPC software. I do use Ableton, but I have a Steinberg UR22 interface that I'll be using with it. I don't want to use the Steinberg with the Ren, because I like using the vintage mode buttons and the volume knobs on the Ren.
Note that I'm not having any latency/distortion issues with the Ren (yet), but I wanted to maximize my performance and stability if possible.
