MPC 2500 M-AUDIO PROJECTMIX I/O

OK, this is a tricky one for me. I have the Projectmix and the MPC 2500 hooked up but my issue is driving me crazy. I read both manuels and it doesnt explain it. I understand how to assign the pads to the Projectmix via the mixer in the MP but what if I have a sample layed out over several pads that I want to track out to my DAW? example. I have snare(pad 1) in MP routed to insert 1 on Projectmix, hi hat(pad 2 on MP) routed to insert 2 on projectmix. My question is how would I lay down a sample over multiple pads without having to assign each pad to an insertin the Projectmix? Hope I am clear on what Im asking. Thanks.

Maybe route the pads that you want on the same track in your DAW, to the same MPC output(s), and to the same ProjectMix input(s)?

It doesn't have to be each pad to a separate output.

Also, I think that you are sending the signal from the MPC outputs to the ProjectMix inputs, not inserts. Inserts are something different to inputs, they usually provide an input as well as an output, and using that term is a little confusing.

From memory you can press the bank buttons to select all outputs for that bank and assign them.. I think you hold shift then press the bank button.. but I can't remeber exactly..
Quicker than doing each pad...

I'm assuming you are using the stock akai os.

I had the pmix and the 2500. Just route tracks(not pads) to the inputs on the P-mix, why are you tracking out every single individual pad? You are just overcomplicating things.

sounds like he has kik and snares hats etc in one pgm, but then a sample phrase/chop in another pgm..

Both are on two tracks , but he want to have the sample chop/phrase coming out maybe a stereo pair of physical outs, and the kik snare and hats on seperate physical outs too..

I work like this because i play the drums all at once.. instead of adding each drum sound in separtely (on diff tracks)when i sequence..

Hey thanks guys. I really appreciate that. I will definately take every thing you all said and apply it. But Im not quite clear on what my man means by ....the IO should be synched to the daw, not the 2500 in my opinion.... what is the point in using the project mix for the mpc?...... The reason im using the project mix is for the inputs. Can you be more clear on your process cuz Im always open for new ways of making joints.

the project mix should be controlling the mixer in the recording device (the daw) not the mixer in the mpc.... if you will be multitracking out the 8 outputs each of those channels will be at the highest possible volume before clipping anyways....

you still run the mpc audio into a daw through the project mix...

That is all he is talking about, I don't see any mention in his OP about controlling the MPC mixer with the Project Mix IO mixer.

Yeah thats exactly what iI am doing. I think maybe you misunderstood what I was saying. BTW I really do appreciate everybodys prompt responses. InspectahEX says to route the tracks and not the pads, how would I do that in the MPC mixer( is it not the same thing) Yes I am confused but I will figure this out.

what os are you using? the akai stock os or a jjos version?
From memory i think the stock os doesn't have a track mixer view/page ? only pgm mixer view/page.

Like i said before you can do a bank select of pads(which selects all pads in that bank)
Then when you change the output it changes all pads in the bank...
