It's a Maschine studio.

Well Hopefully the announcement is some massive huge shit for akai, i've had the chance to look and use this maschine studio with 2 software, and... well it's making it really hard to love mpcs... Once i got used to the flow of it, there isn't annoying things(well yet) that i have found wall stopping(that creative drain from finding a work around) when making a beat..

I'm totally saying this only from a fresh perspective though...(fresh songs haven't imported any as i heard there are some issues importing older projects) It took me this one night to get accustomed to it.. Really intuitive and easy to learn..
Not sure how i'd use it live yet.. As all my live stuff have been programm with mpc..

For the mpc software to come up to par,

They need the mixer to have the option of being unified/global somehow...
They have to add something like sidechaining....
Pad routing..(routing pad audio to other pads. Like using it as a group)
fx automation ....
audio tracks/direct recording placement feature..
Multicore ....
sample edit vertical waveform zooming.

the first crashes i had though where using the ren's audio interface as a driver... haha
typical.. (each other's software not working together not akai hate here)

To be honest if Akai releases another product I will be pissed. I spent $1150 on the Ren and I was excited about the potential of the product, but it really hasn't lived up to its hype. I was so frustrated at NI's Maschine. I chose Maschine over the MPC 5k because NI's product looked revolutionary and intuitive. I did the same with Akai, and they are talking about possibly releasing another controller? WTF!!!? That's a slap in the current users/buyers face. They are basically saying "Hey buy my product because it looks cool. I don't care if it works right(software/hardware), just buy our product because we are the pioneers and we have a good history with previous producers"! First they need to get this software going so we can have more stability and can make more music. I am pretty sure I am not the only person frustrated with Akai, but we all questioned their software before we purchased the product so it is what it is. I don't care how cool the product looks, the software needs to be updated. NI software is killing Akai's.

If Akai, releases another controller then they need to buy all our RENs back. This is some bs!!!

This Pete Goodliffe guy needs to get with it.

I did the same...and all the features most in the forum are discussing can't be accomplished using that product. It just has prettier graphics.

You always should put your money up for what the product does right now instead of promises down the road. You are just going to end up disappointed. The 1000, 2500, 5000, 500 all have end of life akai os issues.

That's why it's good sometimes to not have the cash for these new toys.. sometimes the excitement and hype takes over the brain lol

being the first to have it.. or the first to do an un-boxing on youtube.. I have studied both Maschine and Ren for a few years.. the one thing that catches my attention about the Maschine is the chopping... how you can duplicate pads.. coming from Adobe audition way of chopping, that feature definitely works for me

I agree with you100% bro the ren/studio is a big disappointment this is the worst mpc I feel cheated. I read this forum everyday I'll tell y'all this....jan22 is judgement day for akai (with me at least).they better do some backflips with this software or put out a unit that the people want(standalone a must). This is way too frustrating I love mpc but not this (ren) when I bought my 1000 one year into it I was loving it 234567....years loved it ....I bought this thing in april/13 and I find myself still banging out on my 1k this should not be....the sad thing is that people love the mpc and akai could give a..... Numark or in brand or whoever needs to sell akai to someone who cares about the quality .......T Dot Out!!!!

IT does have prettier graphics, but for me, making a beat from scratch,
the maschine unit is much more inspiring as a modern producer perspective...

even without the new controller, with the mk2 controller ..

The ren for me is a much better controller in terms of hardware features, i just think the software isn't up to par with the hardware...

I love using mpcs, however studying the maschine 2.0 gives better perspective to enhance the mpc software...

for me, i have a maschine mikro, I've tried 2.0, but i like 1.8 better, and honestly, i would rather use my mpc500, i just **** around on machine, but i actually do shit on the 500, and chopping by ear is better for me, i would rather use the 500 over my 1000, but if I'm using the computer trying to make some complex shit reason 7 is where its at, with my own controller, and the mpd32 and a midi keyboard, plus with the midi out on reason now i can use any of those vsts i use in machine in reason,. only reason i bought mikro was for using vsts ...

I've been thinking of this a lot recently. I haven't had to chop by ear that much since 2000 when I was using an Akai s2000 for a while (I do a bit of that with Akai s950 today). It results in samples that are a bit looser, which is good for the funk.
