usb mixer behind the ren?

Hey i want To buy a usb mixer, with dsp effects, sends and returns, etc. So i can plug in mics guitars and ext. Synths....im thinking bout alesis multimix 16 usb fx...i was wondering, can I plug it straight in to the USB a port on the ren itself? For send & return signal? (I know no audio tracks yet) and if I do so, I still have to connect audio out,into ren's line in?? I'm guessing USB is only handling midi....i like the ability of internal effects, external effects in aux"s and with multiple instruments seems,easier with a USB,mixer behind it...
is this possible?? Anybody already does this??? I like the new Alexis multimix 16 USB FX, and I thought Alesis is part or the akai family?? So hows compatibility??? It would be awesome,if it also can be used for controlling the global mixer in,ren software(as soon as it arrives 22-1:-p) as well as the actuall connected mics synths guitars,etc. (no more plugging stuff in and out of the ren) Would this even,work,as,nice as I'm thinking right now?? And which soundcard will be used as the Alexis mixer also has (a lesser then,the renaissance) build-in,soundcard.... So I prefer usng the mpc's soundcard for the end result
somebody can make recommendations suggestions advice? Tips tricks??

oh yeah also was wondering if I could connect the mic. To the mic in of the ren, then track,it out to the mixer (via ren's assignable,mix out) so I can add effects,and then track it,out again back to the ren...or cant the assignable out track out 1 specific track, or does it track out all tracks? And sounds??

No, the USB ports on the Renaissance are simply an external USB hub for the computer USB port that the Renaissance is connected to.

In doing so, you are just connecting the USB mixer to the computer.

I would connect it directly to the computer, rather than loading up the one USB port with more USB data, by having both the Renaissance and the mixer on the one computer USB port.

Though that also depends on the internal USB architecture within the computer, and whether separate USB ports are really separate inside the computer, or whether they are on the same USB bus, or something like that.

You would have to change the audio interface within MPC Software when you want to use the USB mixer instead of the Renaissance audio interface.

why you wanna do this ? if you want to input sounds into the mpc get a patchbay.. really ? beware of cheap mixers..the effects are weak the eq are useless und you and other ugly things...get a nice soundcard if you need more ins...i got an rme multiface 2 and have all my instruments connected i even have my ren connected via digital to the multiface.

i can use 2 asio programm s @ same time like cubase and mpc ren...

If you want it digital I would suggest the A&H Q16.
I recently bought the ZED r16 and am very happy with it.
