I got a mate with a MPC60 so just wanted to get heads up regarding these MPC60 SCSI clones. anyone dabbled?

i got one from france and its not working. its the rev 1.4. ive had it for a year, tried many drives and cables and discs and its still not going. its the single biggest hurtle in my vintage gear career. sssiiiighhhhhh. no option but to keep on trying. def wouldnt buy it again if i had the chance, either wait for the legit board or stick to floppies. darling floppies.....

Stratos Technology (who sell the CF AztecMonster SCSI-CF reader), and the French cloners are not the same people or products.

I would not insult Stratos Technology by comparing his products to the French clone products, or suggesting they are in anyway the same or similar.

I would trust Stratos Technology products, and I think it is incorrect to warn people away from his products, based on experience with dodgy French clones from that dodgy French crew.

The AztecMonster part is not what the MPC-SCSI interface is called, that is the product name of a SCSI-CF reader that Stratos Technology makes, and which his own MPC-SCSI clone is designed to interface with/connect to, to provide an internal MPC CF reader.


The Stratos Technology MPC-SCSI interface uses internal 50 pin ribbon connectors, rather than 26 pin ribbon connectors like on the original, which makes interfacing with internal SCSI devices a lot easier, doing away with the multiple SCSI adapters normally required to convert the 26 pin connector to a 50 pin ribbon cable.

Do you have an OS version that is 2.14 or higher in your MPC, so that it can operate with the SCSI interface option?

What drives have you tried with it, and have you terminated the SCSI chain correctly at the drive?

Anyone know if the Aztec Monster works with the Marion SCSI interface ?

ive tried a few different scsi iomega zip100 drives with the id and termination switches. my os is 3.10. many different cables and disks combos as well. ive never tried the aztec monster products and my response was in regards to the french clone the op was asking about. if anyone has any experience with these clones and any tricks to get em working, id love to hear all about it.

Someone had a french SCSI board that was missing a link on the PCB, or something like that.

Have a search in the forum, you might be able to find it.

i believe i have all the components. ive seen the marion instructions and looked at photos of the kits and it seems everything is there. the mpc recognizes/communicates with the drive and i can get the disk to start formatting but then it says format failure after some minutes. different disks yield the same results. would suck to have to buy yet another drive for it to not work again, after four others. spose ill keep searchin, ive been thru the majority of all these posts. thanks for all the help tho bros. much appreciated.

Sorry, the previous thread was about a memory card missing a link, not the SCSI interface.

I bought one of the cloned SCSI boards from France and it works like a charm. I have an external compact flash / multicard reader that I use with it and I've never had problems. I still prefer floppies over CF though, just my personal preference.
