The REN's problem is that it might become one of those Purist devices. Making it to complicated to really enjoy using it. NUKAI just need to make it solid and worry about other things later down the road.

I've been thinking of this a lot recently. I haven't had to chop by ear that much since 2000 when I was using an Akai s2000 for a while (I do a bit of that with Akai s950 today). It results in samples that are a bit looser, which is good for the funk.

Remember, kids, Dilla chopped by ear.

I dial mine in by eye, then fine tune by ear!

Wow. Didn't realize this was two years ago. Not something I'm interested in, so I had just assumed it came out already. Might be what they're talking about. Still not interested though. Lol

I think we 'might' see some sort of MPC Software update, or preview, maybe 1.7, or 2.0 with audio tracks and global mixer, along with the hardware big announcement, and the two may or may not be related to each other.

Only 4 days until we find out whether it is up to the hype, or not.

Here is my predictions on the Big Announcements....

1) They will show MPC Software update 1.7 with the release set for spring.

2) They will show a new MPC that will cost $250.00 to $300.00 dollars...It will look like the Element in shape but be a bit bigger in size and have no screen. It will have a fresh LED color scheme. It will have a lot more button function then the Element does to work and flow better with the MPC Software.

3) The Element will now come with MPC Software And they will be getting rid of the Essentials software.

4) Some kind of keyboard thing will be shown...

We will see if these predictions come true....

Not a bad prediction list. And if these happen, I predict an unprecedented amount of eye-rolling amongst the MPC community.

Not interested in this particular product directly, but it is interesting in that if they are introducing something like this and branding it an MPC-dj piece of equipment, then it may use the MPC software or code from it for a specialized piece of DJ software that interacts with this controller. The interesting thing is that if they are doing a modern DJ controller w/ software then it's likely it may have to include some sort of real-time time stretching in it...meaning it would not be a big stretch for it to come to the Ren software perhaps?

Not something high on my personal list, but just a thought after seeing the pic
