The only products that Akai has released in recent years that I have been excited about are their controllers for Ableton Live, namely Push and the APC 40.

Depending on the price and features of both but i'm keen to cop one or the other.

Have to wait and see all features..(mainly soundshaping)

both vids are cool but I like that video of roland's more though.. ITs has the more humble approach to it.
I hate when companies get celeb artist to endorse their product, i dont care who uses the product, i want to see if i can use it... with my setup at current..

My guess is that the Roland will be around $500-750, the Elektron more up around $1500.

I prefer the Elektron vid, tells you what features it has, shows you what it looks like in action, instead of the hype game Roland are playing, using the classics for cred, not telling you what they are doing with the new box, makes me suspect just another sub-standard emulation of their old gear.

Laughed at this take on Roland's attitude, and other discussion on another forum...
we design the FUTURE to sound like the things people like from the PAST. because in the future, people will look to the past to see the FUTURE.

quit harping on our old products using old technology! look at our new products that (poorly) emulate old technology! like you would in the FUTURE.

FUTURE.

...classic moment from a previous Roland promo vid...

...and the DBeam...
People look as stupid using the dbeam as they do playing connect on Xbox.

What no way dude you're just behind the times
