Main Volume Broken?

I was just wondering...

Why do we have to turn down the main volume every time we make a project so the sound doesn't clip? Shouldn't it not be clipping by default? I've never seen this before! I mean.. that can't be right, can it?

And if it is broken and fixable then that's just pathetic it hasn't been fixed. I mean I may be wrong here but I don't know. Is volume supposed to be clipping by default? This is frustrating bc the first thing I have to do when making a beat is turn that stupid volume down like 4/5 to the right spot just so the main volume doesn't clip, which is only the beginning of the hinderance to my creative process the second I turn on the Ren and begin making a beat.

Hardware MPCs have a Main Level setting, which I think defaults to -12?

When set to 0, and you hit a single pad that is set to full level, and the sample has a full volume level, you would get a full level output.

Once you start playing multiple pads, if set the same way, it would clip, that is why there is the Master Level setting in hardware MPCs.

By turning down the main Level in MPC Software, you are doing the same thing as the lowering of the Master Level setting in hardware MPCs.

Oh I see, thats right. Actually most gear I've ever owned you can set your Main Gain setting to -18,-12,-6,0db. So basically they left out the ability to set Main Gain Settings that hardware mpcs have and just gave us a knob with no db settings? Man I can't get down with this software crap, and they said this thing is inspired by classic hardware mpcs lol
