None of the stock akai os's on hardware supports audio tracks..

IT would also be great if the plugin versions of software could be multitimbral...

Agreed would love direct events recorded also. I run MPC Studio, Reason 7, and Kontakt all in stand alone with virtual midi cables.

Doubt the current incarnation of the Ren will climb back in value. Especially if they release a 2.0 software version with more capabilities. Next to the competition the Ren just doesn't "appear" to stack up - I stress "appear".

I think we're more likely to see a Ren 2.0 before the current Ren goes up in value.

i dont think any update has been good for me.

They dont take any notice of people who make dance music, the unit is a complete annoyance for dance music, it just has not flow, nothing does what it should do like in cubase.

ive been living in hope since i bought this when they released it and i keep living in hope.. i think i will give them one last chance but i know that for the music that i do the unit has far too much stuff to update to get up there with how it needs to be.

to me the software is like a very early version of cubase and i mean an early version, like 15 years old..

This is what akai's fall is, clinging onto a secular market "boombap hiphop" and that classic mpc workflow angle is just self tea bagging!!!

I think the hardware is good though(better than maschine studio), but it's potential is not matched with the software yet...
The only thing really the shits about the ren hardware is that vintage mode shit..

ive just been made unhappier with this unit as ive found out you can only use the main outputs if using the rens sound engine.. so i cant use the ren with my yamaha o1v96i and the rens outputs , all i want to do is insert an outboard fx processor on a mixer channel with the ren running through it..... may be the ren is not built for professionals!
By mega77 Tue Jan 21, 2014 2:24 am
I was trying to be patient but this ridiculous. They talk about classic workout and they don't even have master tempo on the Ren thats part of the work flow .IMO Akai didn't sit down and gave real thought about the ren .Don't get me wrong there are alright stuff about but there others you like WTF.I think what pisses people off is that a lot of people can see the potential of this thing .The controller is nice but the software is 10 to 15 years behind .

If you can't create Aggregate Devices to set them up, why don't you sync them via MIDI and have it at it? You can still use the Ren's output then, all you need is a wee bit of setup and a MIDI cable. Talk about professionalism...
By NIKFAR Tue Jan 21, 2014 11:01 am
if i sync them via midi cable would i unplug the usb and have it running via midi leads and audio cables? would the plugin still work ?

i will look at using 2 sound cards but that does seem like a problematic way as i have everything working very well and from experience doing this sort of things can unsettle things and theres nothing worse.
By dazastah Tue Jan 21, 2014 3:33 pm
i mentioned aggregate device in Niks other thread but i'm unsure about wether you can do it with the ren soundcard.(not all devices/cards can aggregate.)
Yes thats a good suggestion 83..

Nik

you dont unplug anything, you run both apps standalone..
you send mtc from ren to pro tools and run in slave ..
Pro tools uses the yamy digi. the mpc software uses the rens audio card..
I dont know exactly how to setup because i dont use pro tools..

1.6 crashes for me using list editor .. anyone getting crashes with it.. ususally when i try to double tap into it..

i have no plugins running.. only samples..(like 2 tracks. and i forget to save all the time)

Bleh, I'm done. The MPC Renaissance doesn't offer anything more or better than what I have. It's more hassle than it's worth (for me)... time to part ways... check my signature.
I don't care what they come out with anymore, I'm done with AKAI, for good. I really hope AKAI reads this and understands what running a company like crap does. I don't boycott much but AKAI is added to the list (along with Air, Alesis, Alto, iON, M-Audio, Mixmeister, Numark, and Sonivox). It doesn't stop at me, anybody looking to buy gear I will warn them of the pitfalls of AKAI, so they didn't just lose one customer they lost a lot of potential ones too. Careful who you step on, sheet on, use and abuse on the way to the top, in search of selfish gain, because those will be the same people you see on the way back down and there will be nobody there to catch you in the fall.

No matter how good what they might have (or make in the future) seems, the intentions of the people in control always shine through and show their true nature. Their nature is not something I want to contribute to or be involved in, it's against what I believe.

People should put their heart and soul into what they put out in the world, it should be created because it's what they love, their passion, it should represent who they are deep down. All that shines through here is greed, selfishness, and stupidity. It also shows that they have no ingenuity or confidence, they just ride the coat tails of the better people before them that used to be AKAI. I'm sure the original AKAI family would be turning in their graves if they could see what their legacy has become.

Soo.... anybody want to buy my Renaissance?

The majority of them yes. They are confused, they've got their priorities all messed up and don't know whats really important. There are good companies out there though, run by good people in it for the right reasons. Look at Waldorf, that company has always innovated and made unique instruments for the sake of making good instruments. They follow their hearts and have good intentions and it shows. Even when they failed a few years back, their true intentions were felt by enough people that they were bailed out by someone who believed in what those people did. They gave them an opportunity to keep bringing their love into the world with a little assistance on how to keep going in todays cutthroat marketplace. Do you think anybody would bail out AKAI because they believed in their vision? No they are bailed out to be gutted, stripped, and raped of every resource and good thing they had until they end up in the ground with nothing left but a bad taste in everyones mouth that has ever heard of them.

Could someone send me a link to Jack O Donnell's music..? oh yeah nevermind
This is what a douche bag looks like in the wild, avoid at all costs!

To the good people who do work at AKAI, get out! You are being used and your talents are going to waste, surround yourself with better people who have better intentions.

 at myself and my massive attack on Walmart..er AKAI... blue, red, I always get those 2 mixed up these days.

So yeah anybody want to buy my Ren? I'm such a good salesman
