Yes, by the sounds of what he said, Pete was hoping to have 1.7 to show at NAMM, that he completed coding it the day before, and that it might be shown at NAMM.

Then he mentioned that he didn't know what the product/marketing people would actually show of it at NAMM, if at all.

Since only finished and into beta testing the day before NAMM, it will be a few weeks at least before it is available.

makes since. thanks for being on it. namm was a circus for us here last year. it was fun

I am just thinking for a minute..

they had the blurred mpk images that nobody could guess what the product was.. causing buzz and speculation.. then wasn't Pete quoted saying it's bigger then 1.6 update etc etc..(if I could find that convo I would post it)

but anyway.. I honesty think these guys need to stay away from the Facebook's, twitters.. anything social media, until they have something special

but then again.. their idea of special is way off.

They are working on the Renaissance that's fine. But don't tease people with Elements and MP Freakin K's lol..

@bdrake71 We are hoping to unveil even better goodness than v1.6 for NAMM. We'll have to see… Rest assured, we're working madly on it!

@mist3rgrinch @valourbaby @FanuJanne Still honestly not sure how much the product managers will decide to show at NAMM.

Akai is just thinking about money. They probably feel like they aren't making a lot of money in just updating features on the Ren, although I disagree. It's obvious that they feel that updating MPK's and including a scaled down version of the Ren's software would generate more revenue. They can talk about updating the Ren's software all they want. Actions speak louder than words, and these are their actions:

So, these are supposed to be full sized Renaissance pads on the MPK2's?

They don't look like it.
Akai press release wrote:each full size model features RGB backlit trigger pads lifted straight from the MPC Renaissance

Or maybe not, 'derived from'...
Akai press release wrote:MPK Highlights (full size models):
• Backlit, velocity sensitive RGB trigger pads derived from the MPC Renaissance

If they put half the time and financial resources in to giving the Ren more features as they did in designing 3 new midi controllers and scaling down the Ren's software, they would have version 2.0 ready for a presentation at NAMM. If you bought a Ren, they already have your money. Unless they plan on charging a significant price for updated Ren software, the only way they will make money on it is buy selling more units, but even that seems to be a stretch since the units have already significantly come down in price since it's initial release.

Let get organized!!!!!! Mpc users unite jokes....I got love for you D. But I'm being very serious lets get organized and do something to send a message as a collectiv!!!maybe dissatisfied ren/studio users should flood YouTube with rants like Just Blaze did for the 5000......and sent a very strong message to numark inmusic akai. All of us have one thing in common who frequent this site we all love mpc lets do something ....t dot out!!!'

I would really be down for doing something like that if I thought that Akai would listen. Unfortunately, I don't think they care. Like I said, if you bought a Ren, they already have your money.

The only way they get the message is financially. Don't buy their MPC products any more. Then they'll listen.
