Hy There

I was working with the MPC2000XL for the last 15 years.
Now i've got the MPC Renaissance

Now i'm looking for the best practise how to use the Roland Fantom XR Rackmount module with my MPC.

My Equipment:

MPC Renaissance
MacBookPro
AKAI MPK25
Roland Fantom XR

Any thoughts?

i gues you gonna use the ren 's audio card ?

well connect the ren via usb to your laptop.

then connect the mpk25 via usb aswell to your laptop.. you can also connected with the ren if you like beacause the ren has a usb hub...

then take a midi cable and connect it from the MIDI OUT A (MPC REN) into the MIDI IN of the fantom xr ( i had the fantom x6 and if i remenber right was the usb midi mode a bit sloppy :hmmm: o) thats why i choosed the midi cable..

now audio:

take 2 xlr 6.3 cables and and connect the fantom with the ren...(remenber if you like to hear sounds you have to turn the monitor function on )

if you sample from vinyl you can connect it with the cinch in...you have to change the configuration if you wanna use the cinch in...well i m a bit lazy so i use this

Image

i got my vinly adapted cinch into 6,3 and also my emax on the 6,3 audio in of the ren.

the rest is configuration inside the ren...

MIDI ports ect ect...

Why XLR cables, you should be using TRS or TS cables?

By cinch, I think you mean RCA, as that is what most people refer to it as?

Why are you using that adapter, are you sending a stereo output into a mono MPC input? I wouldn't think that would work correctly?

Run both Ren and Fantom to a small mixer, and track to your DAW through the mixer. You can export all the internal Ren audio, then import into your DAW. Then use midi to allow the DAW to control playback of the Ren (or vice versa) to record the Fantom into the DAW and have it line up properly with the Ren audio.
