Step Record is in 1.6

Just in case you haven't found it, its not in the release notes, you get to it like this:

Open the List Ed by pressing Shift and Step Seq
Press just the Record button
Hit some pads

You will see step record working now.

Then use locate <> to skip a division

Time Correct sets the resolution for Step Record as is traditional

What is the point of step record if you can play things in so easily?

Any real benefits?

I used to just mess around with it sometimes as using it I would just come up with different beats than if I would have played them in. It also allows you to experiment with some things like lots of 32nd notes switching between 5 pads on one hit, 3 on another, a quick 16th rest, etc. In other words things that might be hard to play in realtime. Or to just hear what things like 3 32nd and 2 64th followed by different divisions in other quarter measures sound like. Also for things like drum rolls using the 16 levels features at the same time.

I like to record beats live as much as I can because that is just plain fun and rewarding, but there are things I have gotten out of step record that I otherwise wouldn't have gotten.

You can also get to this function by double tapping step seq. A lil easier than having to hold shift...
