Problem with recording from line in, sound messed up

Hey

I havent played with the new 1.6 and suddenly when im trying to sample something happend.

Everything sounds good when i record it, but when i play what i just recorded it sound all messed up (almost like its a double), i tryed to mess around with the audio preferences and buffer sizes but i cant seem to get it right, but ive always been bad with these type of settings, does anyone know whats the ultimate? - i guess thats have to do with your soundcard right?

I have input from the ren, recording from line in
I have my audiocard (terratec phase 24 fw) as output
im on a imac on 1.6 update, osx 10.9.1

I guess this is me just being stupid, tell me ive missed something?

Does anything change if you switch the output to be the Renaissance as well?

I can also say that ive always done this the same way, and no matter what i sample, if its the phone, the microbrute or what ever.

The sound of the noise or what i shall call it, is effected when i mess around with the audio buffer sizes, but none of the options i can pick sounds better than the other, just different. I just have one cable to test with at the moment, but in my naive world the irritating sound wold effect the sample already when i record it, not just after i play it up?

I think i always runned it 44100Hz
512 samples (11.6ms)

Sampling bit depth 24


Man!!! i found this SICK sample three days ago, and i cant do nothing with it!!

Might be Mavericks 10.9.1? Not supported on MPC Ren...

The driver issue on Mavericks is a known problem and being worked on.
I'm running Mavericks and have intermittent problems, depending on buffer size selected.

I was having some problems on Mav Osx but now it's a little more usable, still not great and usually after a while something glitches up or it freeze. I went into preferences and lowered buffer a little, set sampling from 24 down to 16, made the sequencer 96ppq instead of 960, using a lot using less plugins, and overall just trying not to stress it out and it seems to get by ok for a while. I'm just saving a lot.

what is plugged into the ren inputs are you trying to sample your mac output so u can sample iTunes, safari, xbmc (other media centres are available ) etc
if so i use a optical to digital co-axial converter and use a multi output on the mac audio settings and record into the ren digital input 3/4 .crystal clear

the above was the way i did it before i got a old macbook now i just plug into the macbook digital out to ren digital in
then i don't have to open loads of programmes and windows or even have my music computer connected to the net

One thing that helps is making sure the input and output device are the same. The software seems to not like you using two different interfaces at the same time. So whatever interface/device you are sampling in through must also be the device you output/monitor through. This seems to eliminate the defective audio recordings.

Well... Thank you gyes for the answer. I guess that no one have a 1.4 or 1.5 update that is good with the mavericks? If someone in that case could send it to me I wold be the happiest man on earth...

I'm really not not looking forward to wait for some moths for my up to this point, problem free renaissance to work again

You mentioned you had tried some buffer settings. Have you tried a really high setting just to see? Try even the highest just to make sure it isn't that. When I was recording audio into the Ren I needed to jack the buffer way up and distortion went away.

Sounds like faulty RAM to me. But I wouldn't bet on it, just reminds me of "good ol' times", when that happened to me and early FL.

I really hope they release a 1.6.1 update for mavericks, couse at this point I can't use it what so ever... Tried the 1.4 and 1.5 same issue
