mpc stuff pads sensor

I've just tried an mpc 3000 and the pads make a world of difference compared to the 4k. So much smoothers and reactives. I'd like to know if the pads sensor by mpc stuff would give the same feel on the 4k.

I believe the pad sensors are the same on the two machines, the sensors are just a micro thin plastic circuit board. It's the rubber pads themselves and that will dictate the feel - a combination of the distance between the bottom of the pads and the sensor sheet, and the make up of the rubber itself.

That said, the sensors on all MPCs tend to become less sensitive over time, so your 4000 may benefit from new sensors if its sensor sheet is starting to fail.

A quick fix for poor sensitivity is to put layers of electrical tape underneath each pad - smaller the gap, more sensitive. However too small a gap, you'll get lots of accidental notes playing.

MPC Stuff also sell 'corx' which are thin rubber disks you can use instead. Or buy a set of 'fat pads' and you'll get the corx included.

also worth considering is the age of pads on that mpc3000...I've had couple mpc4000's that pads felt like butter in comparison to my 2500...that's because they've been broken in over the years
