How to use asr-10 rack as a external FX board? Can i use 3 different fx at a time?

You can only run 1 FX algo at a time. This is so you can modulate the parameters in real time, using the wheel, pitch, etc.
This value is usually at the end of the parameters on each FX, scrolling horizontal.
Certain FX like chor reverb DDL gives you 3 options per instrument-
all 3, only chorus or only ddl. there is no "dry" bus, unless you mix down the delay or chorus on the algo.
The only time you can "layer" 2 FX is by resampling (like if you wanted a distortion through flange). The instrument effect will show up when you select the resampled instrument (in this case, [distort.] guitar amp 1). This information with the setting is saved with the instrument and shows up, i guess if you wanted to work with the same effect for another instrument at a later time.
It seems to cause confusion, because the INST. effect shows up, but i believe it is the bottommost selection, then when you scroll up through the FX, you are back in the onboard FX again.
There is a great deal of sound design you can do with this, though with the resampling and parameter controls; you can resample indefinitely through FX over and over again. Once you get accustomed to the interface and menu/buttons in your head, it is not as difficult as it looks.
The busses also allow you to use different variations of an effect on different tracks too...
But you need to sample into the machine if u want that. Otherwise take a DP 2/4.

quick question I have a MPC 1000 already and I love it, however, I always wanted an ASR however, I have a choice of a eps 16+ scsi or an asr-10 with 2mb memory with no scsi?.
Obviously I want a asr but is the eps not worth copping?.

Asr10 > eps.
eps = mpc 60
asr10 = mpc 3000
eps = mpc 60
asr10 = mpc 3000

Go for the ASR-10… even without the SCSI card.
RAM for the ASR is mad cheap. Just don't buy the ridiculously expensive "ASR-10" branded RAM because it is just memory for older computers.

I just bought a Eps 16 plus today.does anyone run other synths through their asr or eps for the effects? how's it sounds? I'm basically gonna use mine as a drum module for push and a effects box.

I use to run my 2kxl through my asr10 active line ins, (like an asr mixer)
because the 2kxl effects card cannot **** with asr effects, at all, worked very well for placing asr effects on top my 2kxl samples.

I thought you couldn't route outputs into eps 16+ only asr 10?
Plus is working on the eps16+ slower than asr 10?.

you can get the wave boy effects disk that's allows audio in on the eps.

Cheers, what I mean is sampling and editing slower on the eps 16 than an asr 10 i.e mpc 2000 to 4000 for example.
