Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000
By teevee Fri Jan 17, 2014 9:29 pm
From what I understand does the Akai s3200XL has:
• Akai EB16
• Akai IB-M208P

Would it be possible to rip off these boards from the Akai s3200xl and install on MPC-2000?
• The boards’ individual goes for whack prices on ebay compared to the price with all installed in a Akai s3200XL which is ready to be split apart.

I think that the rack samplers use the IB-208P.

Slightly different mounting bracket, and possibly different length connecting cable, which I think need to be modified to fit.

Do a search, has been discussed many times in the past.

Yes, but there are so much no-sense talking on this forum. Therefore, I was searching for a “Yes/no” answer :)

No, the only thing that will work in a MPC from the 3200XL is the EB16fx board.

For one the 8 output board on the 3200XL is totally different from the others.
This is not the same sampler as the cheaper S-3000XL and S-2000 (cut down 3kxl) The output board was fitted as standard on the 3200XL, totally different thing.

Also the filter board is not a option board on the 3200XL, it's integrated on the mother board and you can't take it out.

The 8 out board from the 3000xl and S-2000 will work in a MPC but from memory you need to make your own mounting bracket.

Interesting point on the original S-3000 is that the optional filter board/secondary LSI (IB304f) also adds a reverb effect.
It's obviously got the power to also do other things but wasn't utilised for anything else other than a secondary filter in the XL's.

Although the 3k series are my fave series of Akai's to use, I always feel a bit cheated by them. The 1000/1100 had nice (albeit non resonant) 18db filters and better sample interpolation, the 900/950 could do alternative looping which was dropped on the others etc

Okay I found an Akai S-3000xl and seller says that the unit has:
• 1 effect card
• HD 8 out.

How do I make them fit into my Akai MPC-2000XL?
